cmptrwiz Posted September 16, 2016 Author #26 Share Posted September 16, 2016 Just to answer my own question it was about a month ago when they made the change! Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
DebJ14 Posted September 16, 2016 #27 Share Posted September 16, 2016 I don't disagree. Apparently they had to make the FTTF logo larger so the porters and ship luggage handlers could see it better. Maybe some luggage want making it to the rooms on time. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app I think this is why. Our TA gave us the plastic holders for luggage tags in both sizes and we use them on every cruise. She recently sent us the upgraded ones with the ziplock tops and metal straps to replace the ones with the plastic straps we have been using. They are wider and easier to insert the folded tags. We put a tag on each handle of the checked luggage and put one on each carryon bag just in case we set it down somewhere. Hopefully, it will find its way back to us. jdemps Posted September 16, 2016 #28 Share Posted September 16, 2016 How do the tags work? How do you secure them to the suitcase? Do you do anything like laminate them? I am new to this and don't understand how these tags work. It would be great if I knew what I was doing when I go to print mine in a few weeks. Our cruise will be paid on Oct 7 and I was planning to print things then. We just pay the $8 or so on amazon and get the cruise luggage tags where you slide the printed tag into them and secure to the luggage. We fly so we don't put those on until day of cruise. amydresh Posted September 16, 2016 #29 Share Posted September 16, 2016 Thank you all for your help! I will check into the tag holders, otherwise it sounds like packing tape will do just fine too. :)

I'm not going to waste the ink to reprint my tags. All the info is on the old tags. The only thing different is the bigger FTTF logo, but thanks for letting us know. IMHO needing to know when they changed is over-the-top.
DebJ14 Posted September 17, 2016 #35 Share Posted September 17, 2016 I reprinted our tags for our cruise on Monday. Less chance that the porters will miss the FTTF logo and fail to put the special tags on the bags. I for one want my luggage ASAP.

cajunfla Posted September 17, 2016 #38 Share Posted September 17, 2016 We just got off our cruise in sept 4th. We simply followed the directions that came with the tags. Stapled them as directed. All bags showed up with all tags attached. No special tag holders. No tape. No zip ties.
maldenmusic Posted September 17, 2016 #39 Share Posted September 17, 2016 Take an extra tag with you. My daughter's came off once and it was kind of an ordeal to get it replaced.
Big Tillie Posted September 17, 2016 #40 Share Posted September 17, 2016 (edited) We bought our plastic luggage tag holders for Favors by Serendipity and have used them for years. Only $2.50 a piece. brabrant10 Posted September 18, 2016 #41 Share Posted September 18, 2016 Amazon sells luggage tag holders -you fold tag -insert into the vinyl holder & secures to bag handle with sturdy vinyl loop--the holders are reusable too Sent from my iPhone using Forums
frangran Posted September 18, 2016 #42 Share Posted September 18, 2016 I cover the tag with packing tape, then poke a hole in it & put a string through it. Then I tie it securely on the luggage handle, leaving about 3" of string as a "stem" on the tag. Several dock workers have thanked me for this, saying it's more secure than stapling the tag to the suitcase handle as per the instructions. jwjax Posted September 18, 2016 #43 Share Posted September 18, 2016 I reprinted our tags for our cruise on Monday. Less chance that the porters will miss the FTTF logo and fail to put the special tags on the bags. I for one want my luggage ASAP. I think this is exactly the reason for the change. On recent cruises, the porters had to stop and take the time to place bright Orange stickers on all Priority luggage. Then separate them from the rest of the luggage at the unloading area. The new larger FTTF logos (although I would have preferred Priority logos!:)) are probably an effort to eliminate a step for the porter, and get our/your luggage to you sooner!!:)
RecoveryDude Posted September 18, 2016 #44 Share Posted September 18, 2016 I have the luggage tag holders with the steel cables from Amazon. I love them. Much easier than "laminating" each time I go on a cruise. Plus, I like to keep that cruise tag on by backpack as a "souvenir" and reminder of the cruise until the next one. JaniceB Posted September 19, 2016 #45 Share Posted September 19, 2016 That's a great idea. I always include an itinerary inside my luggage so if it's ever lost just maybe it could find me. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app Great tip!
Sugaree5335 Posted September 19, 2016 #46 Share Posted September 19, 2016 Thanks for the heads up. I think that the larger FTTF logo is a good thing. As far as attaching mine, I use these cool plastic pouches that I found on Amazon that have metal clasps to attach them to our luggage.
Kenito Posted September 19, 2016 #47 Share Posted September 19, 2016 All good ideas, and ones I follow! Laminate or tape laminate. Use zip tie or ribbon instead of staple. Two per bag. Over kill, but... Put tag and itinerary inside on top. Use one for your carry-ons in-case they get left somewhere. And the one I hadn't thought of... Take pictures of the bags before you leave! (The OP got more than she asked for, but hey, it's CC!)
