tbmrt Posted September 17, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 17, 2016 Full review will follow within a few days. We had a fabulous cruise on the Oasis except for the food. Other than the specialty restaurants most of the food was very bland and really awful in our opinions. The Oasis had lots of fun activities both daytime and in the evenings. Something for everyone. Fabulous service from Ari, our steward, to restaurant servers to bartenders etc.
Ken at the beach Posted September 17, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 17, 2016 Are they still testing the new menus into the MDR?
tbmrt Posted September 17, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted September 17, 2016 Don't know about old or new menus..Best we had was prime rib..worst was chicken parm and also a pasta dish...tasted like frozen dinners.

molly361 Posted September 17, 2016 #5 Share Posted September 17, 2016 Sorry to hear about the food. We were looking forward to trying the new menus out in December.
OCruisers Posted September 17, 2016 #6 Share Posted September 17, 2016 We also enjoyed our Oasis cruise but didn't like the food the MDR. Happily, the specialty restaurants were very good and worth the price.
halfapair Posted September 17, 2016 #7 Share Posted September 17, 2016 We had the same opinion of the food on the Jewel of the Seas when we sailed on her a couple of years ago. We only ate in the MDR once, then we ate in specialty restos the remainder of the trip. I had the shrimp cocktail in the MDR and thought it was sub-par. Shrimp cocktail from Costco is higher quality. We sail on the Oasis in December and are booked in specialty restos for all but two nights. We'll probably do Vintages, Johnny Rockets, or room service on the two open nights. I can't wait to read your full review.
Scootch Posted September 17, 2016 #8 Share Posted September 17, 2016 We sail 10/22/16 - we will eat in MDR on non formal nights, we will make a reserve for Giovanni's one eve and we are ok w/ the Windjammer for a night or two. I myself have never found the food in MDR or Windjammer to be "delicious," but did thoroughly enjoy Giovanni's. What I appreciate about cruising is the opportunity to trying foods and flavors that I otherwise wouldn't be exposed to.
racerxspeedy Posted September 17, 2016 #9 Share Posted September 17, 2016 We order one of the new entrée's along with a known entree to assure we get something we like. We enjoyed the MDR and the new menus, but found some of the new items disappointing. Some of the items may have been great when freshly made, but may end up sitting out too long. I took a picture of my prime rib because it was so large.
easyboy Posted September 18, 2016 #10 Share Posted September 18, 2016 Glad you enjoyed the cruise, except the food. Looking forward to your full review.
Loyal2Royal83 Posted September 18, 2016 #11 Share Posted September 18, 2016 I am going next month on Oasis. Was on Vision in April, and some of the MDR and Windjammer food was on the bland side. Makes me wonder if they are making the food in the complimentary areas a little more "bland" to force people into their Specialty restaurants. Rinderoo Posted September 18, 2016 #12 Share Posted September 18, 2016 Sort of like going to a banquet every night? I've not been impressed with meals in the MDR on Royal Caribbean. However no one starves on a cruise ship and there will always be something to eat.
