What happens if you lose your sail and sign card?

What would happen if you lost your sail and sign card in a port? Im guessing you would need to show ID to get back on the boat?

What about if you were on the boat and lost it? Can they disable that card ( So no one else can use it) and reactive a new one for you?

Thanks!

I lost mine once on the ship. As soon as I discovered it was missing, I went to guest services and they issued a new one, and disabled the old one.

As far as being out at the port, hopefully you would have another form on ID with you. I'm sure there would be a delay getting back on the ship as they would have to verify your identity, confirm you are on the sailing and issue a new card for you to scan when you reenter. Thankfully though, I have never lost the card at a port.

Unfortunately, I know the answer to this from experience. My husband lost his sign & sail card, driver's license and some cash in Grand Turk. It is probably floating in the ocean somewhere. First, know you can't enter the port area without the sign & sail card in some port. We had to go to the port security office and tell them what happened. That took over an hour. They radioed all the agents to see if it had been found. Finally, the head person walked my husband up to the ship to escort him on board. Because I still had my sign-and-sail card, I was able to enter the ship. My husband had to tell his name and cabin #. They typed it into the computer screen and matched his photo (the one they take when you enter the ship). He was then able to enter the ship and go straight to guest services to get a new card. The problems occurred after you get home. He didn't have a driver's license, so I got to drive the entire way home (10 hours). He then had to report the license lost/stolen and get a new one. If this happens to you in the future, please know that you might have problems writing checks because your driver's license # is linked to your checking account with the company that verifies checks. It is a pain to send them a police report and take care of it. I hope this doesn't happen to you but if it does, know you can get back on the ship if the port authority escorts you on board.

Sailing with friends detailed the in port loss of card. What a pain.

On board, while they do deactivate your card please remember your photo comes up each time your card is swiped to decrease chance of fraudulent charges. That is also why your stateroom number is not printed on the card and why you should not write your room number on your card. Unless someone saw you drop your card and knew where you cabin was it would be worthless.

This happened to my son last cruise. Went to Guest Services and they asked when he lost it, or if he knew when he lost it. Called up to the bar area and it had not been found. They pulled up his onboard ship account and confirmed if the last usages were his which we were able to confirm and they cancelled the old and issued a new. They forgot to put the soda package on it so had to go back to guest services a 2nd time for that. But all in all it was pretty harmless.

No idea about in port, at least someone before knew. Will be sure to continue to grab all of my parties room keys and put into the waterproof container that goes around my neck in port. If I swim it goes with me(tucked under the arm strap of my swim suit) so there is no way it will get lost. I want to have it on my person so no one can accidently grab it.

You do realize that it is not illegal to drive without your license physically on your person? As long as you are a legally licensed driver. And debit cards are king. :p

In many states failure to have your drivers license in your possession while driving is an offense. You may have to appear in person with the license within 24 hours to avoid a ticket or go to court with the license to get it dismissed if a ticket was written.

This can be problematic when traveling if you get stopped in a state other than your own. You may have to return to that state to get it cleared up.

Better to let the wife drive than risk it.

Last year me and my son (36) took a taxi to town in Cozumel. when we got back he had lost his I phone and S&S card. At the guard gate on the right I guise for the employees, called the ship with our information and only waited about 15 minutes to go through. We reported this lose to Carnival when he got his new S&S card. When we got home we reported this to insurance we had with Carnival and received $491.00 for our loss of phone.

Pam lost her card (but not her driver's license) in port in Nassau. The guard at the entrance to the secure area simply asked if she was with me and let her pass with no delay.

Ship's security asked for her name when she boarded and directed her to guest services to have a new card issued. That was all there was to it.

My 12 year old DD lost her card on the ship on our only sea Day (Day 3). She got a new one, but for some reason, when we would try to debark each day for the four ensuing ports, it would never work. She even got a new card again (even though the second card had worked fine for entering the room), and same thing would happen. We finally just nodded as she told them our cabin number and let her through. Even for final debarkation, still didn't work to get her off the ship. Not sure why this was such a problem, as it doesn't sound like anyone else has mentioned this. She didn't have charging privileges, so I don't know if that would have been an issue.

My 14 yr old son lost his card in Curacao, last year, and it was quite a hassle to get him back onboard. Seriously!

We had decided to just get off the ship and wander over to the floating bridge, so for once I decided to NOT carry our passports off the ship with us. (I ALWAYS take them--ALWAYS!!)

Upon return to the port, my son discovers his card is gone. The port agent was adamant about seeing some ID for him, and despite my explaining that he's only 14, and has no ID, he wouldn't let him through. So, I left my son with the agent (eek!), ran to the ship and retrieved his passport. I got quite the lecture from the agent about carrying ID while in port. And I was so frustrated because that was the first time ever that I hadn't taken our passports off the ship with us.

Lesson learned. UGH.

You just need to buy a "round" of drinks for the other 4000 passengers; ring a bell; then they issue you a new card right away :D

Lol. I was thinking the same thing. I didn't have one (lost it) for a couple of years. I got pulled over once and just told them my number and it was fine.
