Best Method to Get to Airport in Fort Lauderdale

We are trying to determine the best method for our family of 5 adults and 2 children for travelling. We will be arriving at Port of Miami and needing to fly from Fort Lauderdale. Any suggests as to the best way to travel and costs?? We are open to cabs, shuttle or car rentals? Any input would be appreciated?

We're using SAS next weekend to get back and forth from Fort Lauderdale to the Miami cruise port. All the review on them were great, their prices are excellent. I was impressed how quickly they emailed back.

We've done this before with seven people-- rented a minivan. Used the car rental shuttle to get from the cruise port to the car rental agency, then returned the car at the FLL airport. We drove around a little and did some sightseeing. It worked well for us.

 

It does add some time though with the shuttles and the waiting in lines at car rental places. I would only do it again if we lots of time between debark and flight, and if I found a good deal on a minivan rental.
