What Happens on a Halloween Cruise?

I am sailing with my adult granddaughter the end of Oct and will be on the Glory for Halloween. We like to have fun and get in the spirit of things. Do people dress up? Is there trick or treating in some way?( I wouldn't mind bringing some wrapped candy) We were wondering if there are any specific parties where you can wear a costume, anyone have any input? I figure we would at least start with door decorating....

Love Halloween cruises, done several. Yes folks dress up (lots wear them the to dinner). Here is the info from Carnival site: '

Frightfully Fun', our Halloween celebration on board is always a fun and a memorable time aboard a Carnival ship with a variety of fun-filled activities for all. Halloween will be celebrated on October 31st on most ships - cruise departures are listed below.

Ships will be decorated on embarkation day (or no earlier than October 26th for longer cruises)

Guests ages, one to seventeen, are invited to participate in a Halloween Hunt and Trick or Treat along the ship's promenade, through various public rooms as they stock up on candy.

Adult Costume Contest

Halloween Dance Party in the nightclub

Halloween movies shown in staterooms and Carnival Seaside Theater (featured on select ships) including special Dive-In movie screenings of non-edited Halloween horror motion pictures shown at midnight.

Guests can have photos taken with special Halloween backdrops

Casino-Witching Hour tournament

Pumpkin carving demo

Special Halloween desserts

Special drink cocktails

Carnival staff will be dressed in costume

Please Note:

Children and adults are encouraged to bring costumes so they can participate in the always interesting costume contest. We do not allow any toy or imitation weapons of any kind on board nor do we allow guests to wear masks.

Real pumpkins are not permitted on board.

Costumes..... YES. Many.

It all depends on the CD as to how elaborate the activities. Our cruise had all types of activities, pumpkin carving contest, costume contests for adults and also for kids, trick-or-treat for kids, party for kids.....whole ship was decorated. Some people decorated their doors, too.

I went as a Carnival excursion guide. I made up the sign just like they do to find them at port. I was doing cave tubing. Had water shoes, an inner tube around my hips and a fake butt with a thong bikini. The fake butt got me chosen as one of 20 to go on stage. (You should have seen the scene of me trying to get out of the cabin door wearing the inner tube! Couldn't go to dinner in the MDR wearing the tube so ate on Lido.)

There was a party of 8 dressed like a vampire wedding party. Said it took them 3 hours to do makeup. The guy who won wore a sarong, a bikini top, a flower in his hair and a head band. He introduced himself as Millie. Must have taken all of 5 minutes. The vampires were mad as heck!

3 guys went as Muskateers in very richly adorned outfits.

When the Bill Clinton mess was going on I had a blue dot on a stick like the ladies had in court to cover their faces.

We are going to be on Triumph for Halloween. I haven't decided if I'll dress up or not. I bought one costume but it was too big. Tried another but it didn't fit either, was a little small in the sleeves, fit great ever where else. Costumes never fit me right. Think I might skip dressing up. Kids have their costumes ready, they are so excited.

Not been on a cruise during the Halloween. I am so encouraged now to try one after looking at the pictures. That looks like a lot of fun! Thanks.
