Park west strikes again.

I guess everyone is different. Our house is loaded with prints/paintings on the wall that we obtained from cruisers. We like then, all have some meaning. The cost was in our price range. We are not going to resale them.

 

We were glad they will ship to us. We didn't want to stay around to pick them up or load them.

 

Sometimes, on a print, if you just want the print and will frame yourself, they will give you the print rolled up in a tube to take off the ship. We found that Park West gives better rates on Framing than any local place we could find.

Want to buy artwork that really you can like when you get home? Buy from the local artists when in port. We picked up a original piece of artwork when we stopped in Dubrovnik, Croatia. The local art school was painting on the streets and we bought a beautiful original painting of the harbor for $60; still it in our dinning room.

That's about what they are worth - a couple of hours of the artists time at $30/hr.

On two prior cruises we went to a Park West auction and won a "FREE" painting. There was a catch;however, in order to get it we had to pay an exorbitant amount for framing and shipping. We no longer go to those sales events. If you like what they are selling and do not care about the cost, Park West is for you. If you believe in Caveat Emptor ( let the buyer be aware) go on the web and check out your prospective purchase.

I love the art I've purchased on cruises. I didn't buy any of it as an investment. I bought it because I liked it, and have been enjoying it for about 8 years now. My favorites are the ones I bought by Emile Bellet (Google him if you like). Of all the pieces I've bought (about nine), only one cost over $600, but it's my favorite one of all :D I haven't bought anything in the past few years though because I ran out of wall space at home :o

These threads pop up every once in a while, and I find some of the reactions odd.

 

So much worry about how others spend their money with Park West.

 

Surely you should start a similar thread about the casino. Way, way more money is lost there. And you take home nothing.
