We are closely monitoring the path of Hurricane Matthew in the Caribbean. At this time, all of our ships are sailing as scheduled and are not impacted by the storm’s path. Our nautical operations team has identified alternate routes for ships that are scheduled to sail near where the storm may pass later this week and into the weekend, in the event that itineraries need to be adjusted to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all of our guests and crew. travelerblue Posted October 5, 2016 #8 Share Posted October 5, 2016 My mom, son, dil and grandbaby are currently on the Sky. They are due into Miami Friday morning. Just heard our weather station report that the hurricane is expected to hit Miami Thursday night or Friday morning. I wonder what will happen. They have to drive back to NH for work Monday night and it's about a 28 hour drive if they go straight thru. If their car even survives in the lot! It looks/sounds like they got a great cruise - they went to Key West and Cozumel instead of crappy Bahamas!! I would've loved that cruise. Hope all is well with them and they get home safely with a great story to share.
thano13 Posted October 7, 2016 Author #21 Share Posted October 7, 2016 Hurricane Matthew Update - October 6 at 6:00 PM (10:00 PM UTC) At Norwegian Cruise Line, the safety and security of our guests and crew is of the utmost importance. The company is continually closely monitoring weather systems, including the tropics, and all Norwegian Cruise Line ships offer state-of-the-art radar and weather equipment. In the event of inclement weather, we have the flexibility to sail a route around the affected area. Currently, we are very closely monitoring the path of Hurricane Matthew in the Caribbean. To ensure a safe and enjoyable cruise for all we have made the following adjustments: *Norwegian Sky's itinerary for the voyage that departed on Monday, October 3 was revised to call on Key West on October 4 and Cozumel on October 5, rather than her normal cruise to the Bahamas. We anticipate that there will not be an impact to the ship's return to PortMiami tomorrow. *Norwegian Escape will not call on Nassau as scheduled tomorrow and will instead spend the day at sea. *In order to avoid any potential bad weather associated with the storm, Norwegian Breakaway will depart from Bermuda tomorrow two hours earlier than scheduled, at 1:00 PM. *At this time, there is no change to embarkation for Norwegian Sky on Friday, October 7 and Norwegian Escape on Saturday, October 8. Should there be any changes, guests will be advised via phone and text messages and updated information will be posted on http://www.ncl.com. We ask that guests embarking on Norwegian Sky do not arrive to the terminal until 11:00 am tomorrow. Currently, the remainder of our ships are sailing as scheduled and are not impacted by the storm's path. If you have a question about your upcoming cruise, please call our guest services team at 1.866.234.7350. Please be advised that wait times may be longer than usual, due to the storm. Any further updates will be posted to http://www.ncl.com.
mom2tcdx2 Posted October 7, 2016 #22 Share Posted October 7, 2016 I have to say I am still curious how they can say there are no changes to the Sky embarkation for today. With their late arrival coming in this morning, wouldn't that stall passengers getting off and new ones getting on? Seems NCL does an extremely poor job of staying on top of things. I would have thought they would at least suggested a later arrival time for checking in. The webcam for the Miami port does show three ships currently coming in. I could tell one was Royal Caribbean, the second ship looked completely unfamiliar to me, third one looks to be the Sky.

pathubia Posted October 7, 2016 #24 Share Posted October 7, 2016 I thought NCL should have posted an update this morning on their website. mom2tcdx2 Posted October 7, 2016 #25 Share Posted October 7, 2016 They may have created that update at 11, but it certainly wasn't on the website at 11. When I posted at 11:14 the 10:30 message was still on the website. The Sky was just beginning to enter the Miami port and that was why I wondered how come they were still showing the embarkation of the Sky being on time, when it was already 11:15 and no ship in the port yet. They didn't post that message until sometime after 11:15.
