george35 Posted October 6, 2016 #1 Share Posted October 6, 2016 Please excuse me but I asked this before & my computer went out & lost everything. My question was; 1. Can we order a drink anywhere on the sip, even in the dinning room? 2. Am I right in saying as long as the drink is $13 or less it is OK 3. This is for my wife, can she order a Cucumber Martini & pay the difference? george35
2theship Posted October 6, 2016 #2 Share Posted October 6, 2016 With your premium package you can order your drink anywhere - and take it anywhere for that matter. The price cap seems to keep changing but $13 sounds about right. Not having any idea what a cucumber martini tastes like or how much one costs, I'll simply say that if it's more than the price cap, she'll just pay the difference. I like cucumbers and I like martinis. Never thought of putting them together.

This is a great answer, I just want to make sure that the OP knows that you cannot order through room service or take the drink from the Mini Bar. george35 Posted October 6, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted October 6, 2016 Thank you for your quick reply & as too the afore mentioned martines I can not think of any one ruining a VODKA martini by putting a cucumber in it. george35
rwb Posted October 6, 2016 #5 Share Posted October 6, 2016 (edited) As others said, when you order a drink priced above the package cutoff you simply pay the difference plus the 18% gratuity. Regarding cucumber martinis, or any off-menu drink, our experience is that you can get almost anything at the Martini Bar. The bartenders at the other bars will usually make a special effort to accomodate if they can get the ingredients. If your preffered version involves mint it may be easier to obtain than if it is the cilantro version. Edited October 6, 2016 by rwb
Cruising_Bill Posted October 7, 2016 #6 Share Posted October 7, 2016 Does the premium pkg include the 18%. Also if it is included and the drink is 13 do you then just pay the 18% on the amount over

quaker77 Posted October 7, 2016 #9 Share Posted October 7, 2016 (edited) And for the classic drink package. Can we use it everywhere on the ship? Edited October 7, 2016 by quaker77
Rare killsport Posted October 7, 2016 #10 Share Posted October 7, 2016 Yes, you can use the classic wherever you want. Neither include the minibar. Nor (if they still have them) the enomatic wine dispensers. Both very convenient packages. If you are particular on your alcohol (include beer and wine), go premium. You can use your classic and decide to upgrade onboard, if you feel it is worth it.
rwb Posted October 8, 2016 #11 Share Posted October 8, 2016 If I'm on a classic package and go over the classic package cutoff do I pay the difference or do I pay full price? You pay the difference plus 18% of the difference. Both Classic and Premium include the 18% gratuity. You can upgrade at any point before or during the cruise. The upgrade from Classic to Premium is $10 per day remaining on the cruise, plus 18%, or $11.80 in total per day. If you order a glass of wine that costs, say, $13 on the Classic package, you pay only the $4 differential plus the gratuity on the differential. rwb Posted October 8, 2016 #12 Share Posted October 8, 2016 And for the classic drink package. Can we use it everywhere on the ship? You can use it in any public area -- restaurants, cafes, bars, lounges, pool areas, casino, etc. You cannot order a drink from your stateroom or buy from the minibar in the room. Both the main dining rooms and the buffet offer wine, beer, spirits, juices, coffee, and waters. All the numerous bars and lounges will offer water in addition to wine, beer, and spirits although some specialty items will not be stocked in every one of the numerous bars. Specialty coffees, teas, and juices are generally available in limited venues, but making friends with the staff might change that. SheriffJoe Posted October 8, 2016 #14 Share Posted October 8, 2016 Bad news, full price. WRONG...only pay tax on the overage amount...in the Martini bar they usually don't even bother to charge you anyway...as long as you have Premium

Rare chemmo Posted October 8, 2016 #16 Share Posted October 8, 2016 Re my earlier answer that you said was wrong, could you explain please...I am becoming confused! I was answering a question re a classic package question by nb516090. I thought if you bought something over the limit you paid the full price, not the difference and it was only on the premium package where you paid the difference....Perhaps I am misreading... rwb Posted October 13, 2016 #20 Share Posted October 13, 2016 Wow, I had no idea Classic paid full price for drinks outside the base. We've chosen the Premium package on every cruise since the packages were offered, and I assumed the same rules applied to Classic. That makes the price difference between the two less than the cost of just one specialty drink or most wines by the glass. Apologies for misleading. OBX-Cruisers Posted October 13, 2016 #21 Share Posted October 13, 2016 Slightly off topic but should be easy question for you experienced travelers. Can you buy a drink package for just one of the two people/cabin or do both people have to have a package?? Wife loves her coffee and would like to get her a non-alcoholic classic package but do not need that same fix myself. Thank you in advance
