nivrag4511 Posted October 8, 2016 #1 Share Posted October 8, 2016 I just signed up for uber and was wondering how easy it would be to get from the port to the Hard Rock. Needless to say I'm a little older and new to this. Thanks for any help.
fishywood Posted October 8, 2016 #2 Share Posted October 8, 2016 Are you asking about the Hard Rock Cafe at Bayside Marketplace that is literally right next to the port entrance? I wonder if Uber will take a gig that short a distance; hopefully one of the local regular users will chime in. Are you on a ship making a port call (rather than turnaround) at Miami, or taking a back-to-back cruise? I can't think of any other reason why one would want to eat there, but there may be a shuttle offered by the cruise line from the ship's berth over the Port bridge to the area where the HoHo buses stop in the case of an interim port call (or a lot of B2B cruisers booking tours that day). nivrag4511 Posted October 8, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted October 8, 2016 I will be on the Grandeur of the Seas and docked from 10:30am to 8pm. I don't want to eat there. I have to bring back shirts.
AEckhardt Posted October 8, 2016 #4 Share Posted October 8, 2016 The app itself will give you an estimate before you officially order it, so you can do a mock booking to see what the rate might be, and then just cancel it, so as not to order anything. Just be aware that Uber can and will change rates due to high demand, so it may be more when in port. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Rare crewsweeper Posted October 8, 2016 #7 Share Posted October 8, 2016 And to really save money, if that's all you are planning on doing in Miami:eek: and the weather is nice, you can walk there. I wouldn't suggest this if you had luggage and were boarding, but it is doable. Just watch traffic getting out of the port itself. Once you're on the bridge. it's a piece of cake. Lido_Deck Posted October 8, 2016 #8 Share Posted October 8, 2016 If you are patient, there is the Miami Trolley which is free. The problem is finding the Trolley stop at the port. It's at the very far northwestern end of Dodge Island across the street (North American Way) from the south side of the Port Administration Building. If you come in on NCL then it's on the complete opposite end of all the terminals and is a little bit of a hike. If you come in on MSC or Disney then you are pretty close. There is no traditional bus stop or even a bench, just a sign on the curb next to a parking lot. In the link below, you want the Coral Way Route. http://www.miamigov.com/trolley/ You can actually find it on Google Maps if you know where to look. See if this pulls up the port and then go to "Earth View." https://www.google.com/maps/place/Po...!4d-80.1708802

Not the OP, but someone else thinking about walking to Bayside. Which bridge do you walk over? Google maps shows two, street view makes it look like I walk on the miami - bound side if the road. This would mean I have to walk quite a ways into miami before crossing the road and entering Bayside. Is there a way to cross and walk the other side of the bridge? Street view is unclear. Rare crewsweeper Posted October 10, 2016 #10 Share Posted October 10, 2016 You take the Port Blvd Bridge from Dodge Island. That turns into NE6th Street and you'll have a light at Biscayne. Cross NE6th and Port Blvd at that light and presto you are at Bayside. Walk by via Port Blvd, no need to cross back over until after the bridge, but might be a good idea to reverse your steps. People dash across both street before the light when heading from Bayside to American Airlines Arena for Heat games.
