What is more popular MTD or TD?

We were on the Explorer 16-23 September 2016. The discussion of TD and MTD was brought up concerning the increasing number of Cruisers selecting MTD. At that time the Hotel Director announced when the Explorer heads to Australia this year they are going to change TD to deck five and MTD to deck 3 due to there's more floor space in the MDR on deck three than on deck 5.

Traditional dining had lots of empty spaces. MTD host saidThey may have to switch MTD to deck 4 because it has more space than deck 5, which was then being used for MTD. I think MTD is becoming more popular. We had he same time, 7:30, same waitstaff and same area of the dining room. only had to wait a few minutes n formal night, low f folks without reservations, waiting perhaps 15 minutes to get seated.

We have always had late seating the last 10 years or so and have gone with my time the last 4 cruises. We always make a standing reservation around 8 to accommodate the shows and can cancel them if we do specialty or decide on another time. On some ships when we call and cancel they said just let them expire. We get a large table our first night , and if wait staff are great will request same each evening. If we don't click with table mates or staff will change to another the next evening. Has worked out well for us.

If you are doing traditional and doesn't do well you can always go to staff and move to another table. The only problem many have faced is after first night and tables not great many change, and some will get put at tables that now have vacancies that others have moved from . Bob
