Cable Beach and Busses

Hello,

I have been reading up on what to do on our day in Nassau coming up in December. I was thinking of taking the number 10 Jitney to the Fort Charlotte and then to Cable Beach. Is this easy to do from the cruise terminal? Is it free to get onto cable beach? Does fort Charlotte charge an entrance fee?

Thank you!

Jon

how do you get on the bus? where can I see a bus schedule etc?

From what I have read you can get the bus at the McDonald's across from the Colonial Hilton. I believe it is $1.25 per person each way. Someone correct me if I am wrong. It is the #10 bus to Cable Beach.

Correct it is the number 10 and it is $1.25. Very user friendly and easy to find. If not ask and folks will direct you. Highly recommend doing it this way.

Is that in US dollars or will we need to convert to take the bus? Does it run regularly back to town? Just don't want to leave to late and miss the ship LOL!

Once at Cable Beach--can you reccommend where you went to access the beach/snorkel area? Also--any place that offers lockers to secure belongings while in the water?

You can use US dollars for the bus. Use small bills because the drivers don't always give change and if they do, it will probably be in Bahamian dollars.

Buses come by every 5-10 minutes.

Is it possible to get on the beach without paying any fee at all? If we just want to sit on the beach and don't need a pool or bathroom?

We are doing the Melia Resort next week. It was $35, but nothing is included, except chair/umbrella/towel. I am fine with that as our ship is only there from 7 am to 3 pm.

It is very easy to get a bus back, they run on a regular schedule. I would however, leave extra time in case of traffic. The bus system is really easy and simple to use.

That sounds good. Let me know what you think of it please. Thank you!

Hi,

I took the #10 bus to the Melia hotel. I walked in to their lobby and asked where the Starbucks is. (through lobby, veer right, then down the stairs). That's where the door is out to their pool area. Walk past their pools and bar and you're on the beach.

* If you do happen to see a security guy, just tell him where you want to go - to the public beach. They'll direct you. I had no problem.

When I was done for the afternoon, I walked right back out through their lobby, down their front stairs, and that's where the bus stops. Convenient.

Good Luck! Have Fun!

We did this and worked for us a few years ago.

Stopping in Nassau in March and plan to do this again.

One of the workers came up to us and asked if we wanted a wrist band for 10 bucks and took him up on his offer. Then went and hung around the pool for a little while.

Not bad.
