Homosassa Posted October 19, 2016 #26 Share Posted October 19, 2016 Thank you for the warning. We have booked J cabins under the Queen's Lounge in the past and have found them to be very quiet at night. I would have never thought about music noise before booking one again. andrek Posted October 19, 2016 #27 Share Posted October 19, 2016 I booked cabins 1030(outside), J 1018, J1024, J 1028 (inside) on the Eurodam. Do you think these cabins will be impacted with the noise from the lounge? They look like they are under the Casino. I had them on the starboard side first but moved them to the port side because of the dueling pianos. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Augie's mom Posted October 19, 2016 Author #28 Share Posted October 19, 2016 A few years ago I had a bad cabin on the Oosterdam too: Thanks,I have noted your cabin warning.
Cruizer Bill Posted October 24, 2016 #29 Share Posted October 24, 2016 Thanks for the heads up! We had the same thing happen to us on the Eurodam in 2013. We were directly above the HALCats and you could feel every note of the bass guitar! Really vibrated the room. They quit 10:30 to 11 PM in the evening so we knew when to go to bed. I did not complain, it was a Guarantee.
shealea Posted October 24, 2016 #30 Share Posted October 24, 2016 Thanks for your post. It will help newer cruisers know, or a reminder to others to check deck plans before choosing a cabin. I remember our first 3 cruises I didn't know about cruise critic here. I just willy nilly picked a cabin without any thought, except for price. And thank goodness I just got lucky and got quiet cabins. After discovering cruise critic here, I quickly discovered from reading posts to check the deck plans. I've also learned here some price-saving strategies, and all about upsells and that sort of thing. Sure glad I discovered this place!!! Yes! DaveOKC Posted October 24, 2016 #31 Share Posted October 24, 2016 I would hate to have had this cabin! Thats why I like to book specific cabins and not take a chance (yes, I know the OP did not book a guarantee). In defense of the PCC and HAL, everyone has different ideas as to what they like and dislike about cabin location. My friend loves to be in the bow of the ship and does not mind late night noise as he is always up late, so this cabin would suit him well. Just a thought......... KroozNut Posted February 23, 2017 #33 Share Posted February 23, 2017 A few years ago I had a bad cabin on the Oosterdam too: An inherent risk when booking a guarantee. You're literally 'rolling the dice' in terms of cabin location, and are usually stuck with what they assign you. This is primarily why we always study deck plans and choose the exact cabin/location we want. We're not big gamblers anyway! ;)
