Concierge Cabin 9160 - Advice

Unbelievably, I was able to put this cabin on hold for the June 24 sailing of the Summit in Alaska. I was a little worried when people said that of the AFT CC cabins, the 9th deck would be their last choice.

Can anyone put my fears to rest? We are not the type to be rattled from a few chairs moving around, and we are usually up at 6:30 anyway, and at the Casino at night when the chairs would be moved then.

Would it be ridiculous to forego this cabin fora cabin with a tiny balcony just because of the possibility of noise disturbances? I am leaning towards no, but I just wanted to get everyone's opinion!!

Also, I read that some people have CC menus and othe Summit material that they are sharing? If you can, please send to mklein@greenbaumlaw.com

Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED.

P.S. - Just got back from the Grand Princess in the Mediteranean for our honeymoon, and it doesn't compare to the food, service and overall quality of Celebrity ships (and I've only been on the ZENITH!). Can;t wait to see Alaska in style.

We would be happy with this cabin, just because of the aft balcony. I have seen the ocasional bit of food that has fallen onto the Sky deck balconies in the Caribbean, but in Alaska, there will probably be fewer people eating outside. For the same reason, you should get less chair noise early in the morning or late in the evening.

I'd take it in an instant.

Grab it, fast. We just returned from 14 days on the Infinity in aft cabin 9201 and we loved it. That large balcony is great, we had breakfast there every morning and the CC perks are so much fun. Not to mention sitting out there and watching the wake. There was some noise from moving chairs but not much.At night the guitar player was out on deck 10 and we could sit on our balcony and listen. Don't forget only on the CC breakfast menu can you get fresh squeezed orange juice or carrot juice.Have fun, we did.

We are booked on the 9/9/06 Summit Alaskan cruise in cabin 9164. This is the first I have read about the deck chairs. During September in Alaska I guess there is not be too many folks outside. Our Princess cruise to Alaska last year was on 9/12 and by that time there was not too much outside activity unless it was mid-day. Also, the ship did not seem to be a late ship. No kids at that time of the year so by 11PM there was not too many folks still up... although, at 7AM there was a line waiting for a seat at the buffet.

One way or the other, if the noise is a problem, we will do like we did on the Sapphire. Turn the heat up, open the sliding glass door, and listen to the wake. We slept like babies. :)

Michael,

We are just back from Summit's 9/16 Alaska sailing. If you have an aft cabin then I can tell you you have the outside area of the buffet above you. Teak floor with heavy teak tables and chairs. It is a shettled part of the ship and well used. You may get noise of the scraping chairs but it would not be enough to turn me away from an aft cabin.

We had the the pool deck above our sky deck cabin and yes you can hear noise. We would choose deck eight next time, not because of the noise but because of the overhang. It got in the way of picture taking

We have had cabin 9201 on 3 different cruises and have the same cabin booked on 2 more. We love that cabin and deck 9. When its windy or the ship is moving along at a fast pace, you don't have any problems in an aft cabin. On occassion we hear chairs mmoving around from deck 10, but not enough for us to think of moving to a deck 7 or 8 cabin.

Enjoy your aft cabin to Alaska.

It is our favorite cabin also, we just got off the Hawaii Infinity and have the Connie booked for 2007 with that cabin, will take it whenever. Noise or overhang not a problem, wind strong on rest of ship while we were comfortable.

Hi,:) the boards are still messed up. I posted a reply as well, but it

disappeared into cyberspace.

We had 9160 last month on SUMMIT. I might have heard some

faint noise but nothing that really bothered me.

Or it may have been that I was just tired at the end of the day

and slept like a baby;)

I also just got back from the Summit. We had an aft balcony on Deck 7 - cabin 7203 and loved it! We also visited Cabin 9160 (Hi Lois!) and it was great as well. I would much rather have *any* aft cabin than a standard balcony cabin on any deck!

Enjoy your aft cabin!

We had cabin 9162 on the Connie last July on our Baltic cruise. Periodically, we heard (not all the time) dragging chairs when our veranda door was open or when we were out on the veranda. It was not a problem for us. However, it was a problem for our neighbors and they moved. Some people are more noise sensitive than others and it was not an age issue. One couple was young and the other elderly...we're in our late 50's/early 60's.

With that being said, I would not give up that cabin. In fact, we'll be in 9162 on the Connie in early January. The view is spectucular, you'll love the large veranda for relaxing, having breakfast, etc. and as an added bonus you'll be able to hear soft melodies each evening (of course, weather permitting) from the aft bar-seating area on deck 10. Don't move. You don't know how lucky you are. IMHO

Enjoy and happy sailings!

We had 9162 aft CC cabin on Millie in the Med. in May. We booked that cruise while on Summit Alaska Repo cruise in May '04. DH was sick when the confirmation for our Millie in May cruise was delivered to the cabin because the "future cruise coordinator" booked us in "one of those awful back cabins" (sic). (He was still smarting from the soot that fell on him while on our first Med. cruise on Rembrandt (may she RIP) while we were standing at the rear of the top deck enjoying a drink - it WAS pretty bad and ruined a new shirt.)

I on the other hand was ecstatic! He tried for a year to get me to have the reservation changed to a side CC - but I held firm.

He now worships at my feet! He can't stop talking about that aft cabin in the Med. He never wanted to leave the cabin. And - what's worse - he's broken hearted that we haven't been able to land an aft cabin for the future cruises we have booked.

The only noise I noticed was the guitar player on deck 10 above us - and I'd not really call that noise - as he was very good and we so enjoyed relaxing on the huge veranda after a long day on shore - enjoying a bottle of wine and listening to the musician.

Don't let go of this cabin - you'll have a wonderful time!

Wow...worships at your feet...so that's the secret. I may have hit the jackpot...we have aft cabins on our next 3 cruises.

But I'm just content to be cruising anywhere, so the cabin is the icing on our cake...

We are booked in 9164 on the Summit for the 9/9/06 Alaska cruise. It is a handicap cabin. Most of the handicap cabins are about 250 sq ft which is bigger than a normal 194 sq ft CC cabin. For you folks that are soooooo familiar with those aft cabins (can't believe so many knows each aft cabin by room number) is that cabin actually bigger? I have not been able to get a definate answer from Celebrity... just a general answer. This is important because my partner is parapledgic and is in his chair at all times. A small cabin is claustriphobic to him because there is no room to turn (can you say Carnival?). I am sure it is a larger cabin as all of the other accessible ones, but just wanted someone who has laid eyes on it to confirm.

Hi Barry, good morning.

I have been in one of the handicapped cabins on SUMMIT. I believe

it was 8167?....one of my cruisemates was on crutches/in a wheelchair

last month.

Her cabin was BIG.....and the bathroom was even BIGGER!

I cannot tell you about any other handicapped cabins but this one

was much bigger than 9160. (Regular Aft). Of course I realize most

people want it for the size of the balcony.

But the cabin itself.......the handicapped one is much larger.

Hey Barry :D

Yes, the cabin is larger. A wheelchair will be able to do complete turns without any problem. The bathroom is huge with a roll in shower with folding shower seat. The toilet is raised and there are grab bars all over the place as well as an emergency call pull cord. There is a removable ramp for wheelchair access to the balcony. There are emergency pull cords located in several different places around the cabin. There is no large sofa, but a smaller love seat/double chair. Any other questions? :)

We had 9162 aft CC cabin on Millie in the Med. in May. We booked that cruise while on Summit Alaska Repo cruise in May '04. We have 9162 for our Med cruise this May. Do you remember if the ship backed in or pulled in to most of the ports? Just wondering what our "views" will be while in port??

We had an aft cabin for our cruise in Hawaii...what great views when leaving the islands. It was the BEST!

Hi I have just booked Cabin 9162 on the Constellation for 2nd March 2007 if anyone can send me any pictures it would be appriciated. I am really looking forward to the cruise and the cabin which I would not have picked if I had not discovered this from this wonderful site. We are off to Cape Town in South Africa for my daughter wedding at the end of this month then off to Goa in India in Febuary and Greece in June life is just a bowl of cherries since we both retired remember "you cant take it with you".

Lucky you! Are you on Millie BCN to Venice or Venice to BCN next May? I'd love to repeat - but we've booked the Millie Trans-Atlantic for next November. (And May is a great time to cruise the Med. - not too hot or too cold.....for us it has been the perfect time.)

We had a nice view of the bridge and hotels while the ship boarded in BCN. In France, the ship drops anchor (tendering here) and our view was frequently changing - absolutely stunning when we were leaving the French Riv. late that night!

The ports for Rome and Florence - as well as Naples were pretty much commercial/industrial ports and no view was really "beautiful" - however Naples (I believe) we were able to see the mountains as well as the city - but again - it's a commercial port.

Santorini was absolutely the most beautiful view of all, IMHO! Again the ship drops anchor (tenders to the island) and "floats" around . The views are constantly changing - and just magnificent! Again, leaving late in the evening with the moon over the island - the view from the veranda was spectacular. And oh that guitar player on deck 10 playing greek tunes as we departed!

Mykonos we were docked away from the city - not far by bus - and could see the town, view there was also great from 9162.

Croatia we were docked in such a way that we couldn't see the old town - but the view we had from 9162 was, again, spectacular: a beautiful bridge across an inlet - and the islands behind us - reminded me of Alaska in May! From the cabin we had a marvelous view of the Dalmations - (guess that's what the islands were called). It was beautiful.

In Pireus (not the correct spelling - but I'm too tired to look it up) the port city for Athens we had a great view of the hills and the city - and really enjoyed watching the water craft - a really busy port city. Very interesting views.

And Venice: I can't remember too much about the view from the cabin while in Venice....I think we had a clear view of the terminal - not the whole island - looking away from the "main" part of the island - but not a bad view - especially since we had to disembark at that port - and were busy packing.

We're checking daily to see if we can hook an aft cabin for Summit Hawaii Circle cruise out of LA next April and for our Trans-Atlantic next November. Sure wish there was a wait-list for these cabins!

You'll love this cabin!

Just hit the link in my signature line. While not 9162, they're of an aft CC cabin on the Constellation taken 4/05, same size and decor. The "inside" FV pics also have a shot or two of the veranda that are better than the ones I got from the CC cabin, and will reflect exactly what you'll have available to you since this was a Deck 9 inside FV (two doors down from your cabin).
