I am going to do this review as a blog again, (see link below) I hope it works! They are so time consuming to do on CC with having to upload to a photo host then to here so that's why I decided to do this review as a blog again. It is finished so I hope it worked. It's been a long time since I blogged a review!

Anyway, we did a 5-day cruise on Carnival Sunshine from Norfolk, VA to Bermuda.

It will have plenty of photos.

If you have any questions or comments, please ask me on here, on Cruise Critic.

Hope you enjoy it!

Thanks for your review and lovely pictures. Bermuda is on my list.

I also wish Carnival sent more sailings out of Norfolk since it is my local port too. It's a very nice terminal facility and is perfect for fans of Naval ships and submarines, as both are viewable along the trip out at sailaway. Go Norfolk!! We need our own ship.

Very nice review and summary of events! I was on this cruise as well and your blog really captures everything quite nicely. I also did the Island Wrap Around Tour through Viator which was excellent. We got to see everything including the small draw bridge. I would highly recommend them! We did find the ship itself rather cold in the evenings, so I'm glad we brought a light jacket. The food in general was just okay with the exception the the steakhouse which was yummy! Overall, a very nice cruise with a wonderful and friendly crew! Each and every member of the crew I spoke with was nice, friendly and very thoughtful! I hope Carnival cruises more often out of Norfolk since it is soooo close to home!

Thank you everyone for your kind words.

Crusing1421 - Yes I do have the Fun Times. I think the only way I can get it to you is by scanning them then emailing it to you. Unless you have another thought? If you want to give me your email address I can scan them to you.

It may have to wait until Monday, when I can do it from work. I will see if I can scan them with my home scanner, but sometimes it just doesn't work right.

Sea Raven - It is a nice terminal, it's the first time I've been there. That would be great if we had a cruise ship here all the time....although they would just need to change ports, every so often! :D

I'm glad you enjoyed my review! As far as tours go, I couldn't find a tour company that didn't require a certain # of people. Byways, was the only one I could find where WE didn't have to get a group together. We have done that before, but people tend to back out, then you are scrambling to get others to fill the spot.

I was really happy with our tour, just wish we didn't have a straggler in the group. I'm sure we missed a few other things too!

Yes I agree the cruise was wonderful and the crew very friendly and yes there were cold spots on the ship.

As for the food, I was a little disappointed with the choices. I think everything tasted good, that I had....just surprised on how much they cut back on the options! I haven't been on Cruise Critic as much as I used to be so I wasn't in the loop on some of the changes.

Thanks again for taking the time to read my review!

Cruising1421 - I finally got the Fun Times scanned. Did you still want me to send them to you?

Or anyone else who would like them sent to you via email. Just let me know what your email address is and I will be happy to send it to you. :D

Very nice vlog/review. Your photos are beautiful.

We took a cruise out of Norfolk way back in 2002 to Bermuda aboard the Triumph. That was a 7-day cruise, and we had 3 full days in Bermuda, which was awesome. Great to see some of the same sites in your photos. It was hot, hot, hot since that cruise was in June, and we got to actually get in the water at the beaches. We also climbed to the top of that lighthouse. Don't mind saying I got a little vertigo up there, but the views were worth it ;)

Strange that the Sunshine is still holding safety briefing/muster drill outside.

Did you find the public areas very crowded? I know since they redid the ship and added more cabins that people usually comment on how crowded it feels.

BTW, in the past I've saved my FunTimes as jpg files instead of pdf and just posted them here like photos.

Thanks again!

Nice review. I too wish there were more from Norfolk. We (several agents from different agencies) had lunch with the Carnival BDM in Towncenter - and discussed this very thing. She mentioned that Carnival was evaluating the town's hotel capacities, and that's part of the reason they're hesitant to expand.

Every single one of us pointed out that you could stay in VA Beach, Chesapeake, or Norfolk (or really even Williamsburg) - and it would be no different than Miami/Ft. Lauderdale. She said she'd bring it up the chain, we'll see how it turns out.

On a side note - 30 minutes from VA Beach to Norfolk? Either you live down by Sandbridge, or you drive SLOW. :D

I believe you can scan each day's FunTimes as a PDF File, and post each File? Ken

Thank you! I didn't know they changed their Muster Drills from not being outside?

No I did not find the public areas crowded. Of course at times the casino got crowded and it was very smokey in the there, but we always found a couple of machines to play on.

I'll have to figure out how to get the Fun Times here...I will try a couple of things.

Wow that's interesting that they are considering coming to Norfolk more often! I always wondered what the hesitation was. I thought it was something to do about Norfolk's environmental restrictions or it was to expensive to port here. Keep us posted on what you find out!!

Yes it takes about 25-30 min. to get to Norfolk. We live near Dam Neck. No quick access to the highway and if you catch a few lights that can add several minutes to your drive.
