Gladysgoing Posted November 5, 2016 #51 Share Posted November 5, 2016 I like it split down the middle. On our 7 day Regal cruise we have 3 port days and 3 sea days. That is perfect for me.
xlxo Posted November 5, 2016 #52 Share Posted November 5, 2016 (edited) My vote goes to port days...... cruise ships size may be a factor.... The ports are BIGGER and allow me to stretch my legs more. If I did Hawaii..... I would go POA where every day is a port day. ray98 Posted November 5, 2016 #53 Share Posted November 5, 2016 (edited) Hmm. If you enjoy Sea days to relax, lay in the sun, have a few drinks and enjoy the odd show, you can do that for a fraction of the cost at a multitude of land resorts. . Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Huh? I can't even usually find a similar price much less a 'fraction' of the price. Hell, a simple FLA beach condo can cost me as much for a week as the entire cruise fare. Edited November 5, 2016 by ray98
ray98 Posted November 5, 2016 #54 Share Posted November 5, 2016 I feel that if I want to just sit on a ship and relax, I can stay home and sit and relax and save money. I like seeing different places! To each his own To me the ship is a destination....a moving resort.
AEckhardt Posted November 5, 2016 #55 Share Posted November 5, 2016 I like a nice balance of both [emoji4] I want at least two full sea days on an itinerary so I can really relax and enjoy the ship, but I do love my adventures at port. euro cruiser Posted November 5, 2016 #58 Share Posted November 5, 2016 It depends - in Europe I want port days. Our upcoming cruise has an equal number of port days and sea days and, given that several of the port days are in Mexico (very little interest in these ports) we'll probably spend most of the cruise on board. drsel Posted November 6, 2016 #59 Share Posted November 6, 2016 (edited) Easy for us to do the poll. It's sea days all the way. I love the islands and its great to see new things, but the ultimate relaxation are the sea days. And int he last few cruises - as we have already been to many of the islands, we now make a port day into a "sea" day, but just staying on the ship. Many times, the ship is the best entertainment around. I fully agree! Edited November 6, 2016 by drsel
drsel Posted November 6, 2016 #60 Share Posted November 6, 2016 Picked Port Days because we still have the option of staying on the ship if we wish. :) But the activities on ship are MUCH LESS on Port days, as compared to Sea days

With speed boats to the islands for snorkelling or relaxing.
calliopecruiser Posted November 6, 2016 #62 Share Posted November 6, 2016 I guess you haven't done Thailand-- But you've got to get there! That could cost you an extra several thousand, depending on where you're starting and how many of you are going. Compared to perhaps driving a few hours or a low cost domestic air ticket. It's really relaxing on board when everyone else is ashore. Pool area is quiet, lounge chairs are easy to get, drink service is great. Plus if you are fortunate enough to have a balcony on the pier side great entertainment watching people return. If you're really lucky you may see that not all that rare species: pier runner. Cruisin Broad Posted November 6, 2016 #64 Share Posted November 6, 2016 My preference is a balance of sea days and port days. For most of the cruises I've taken, the majority of ports are back to back, with one or two sea days at the beginning or end, and occasionally a sea day in the middle. It would be great if there could be a sea day followed by a port day, another sea day, another port day, etc.
no1racefan1 Posted November 7, 2016 #65 Share Posted November 7, 2016 H and I prefer as few sea days as possible. For us, the ship is simply a hotel where we only have to unpack once and we don't have to do a lot of driving or flying to visit multiple destinations. CELTICGIRLCRUISER Posted November 7, 2016 #66 Share Posted November 7, 2016 Port Days for me, couldn't stand a TA or anywhere where there are days and days at sea. Next one we have 8 ports including overnighter and 5 sea days so can just about cope with that:D
