What are Bridgetown Barbados Cruise terminal check in opening hours please?

I have tried phoning several numbers in Barbados but to no avail. My problem is that my flight on 5th January 2017 is scheduled to arrive at 15:30 at Grantley Adams airport and I will then travel to the Cruise terminal to board the Breamar cruise.

I would like to know what time the subject check in closes as I have been informed that it may be 17:00.

In that case I have a serious problem in getting to check in while it is open.

Please will someone let me have the information I need or the phone number of the Cruise terminal / check in.

I think you need to determine this with the cruise line.

If they have specific deadlines to check in (sounds like they do, at 5pm?), then that is who you need to deal with.

Even if the terminal is open all evening, it's the cruise line that determines what the cut-off time is for check in.

If you can't make it, then you should fly down the day before.

The ship will not wait for you, of course.

And you cannot count on them allowing you to arrive late and still get processed.

you typically must be ON BOARD 90 minutes before the cruise is scheduled to depart. not checking in. even if you arrive 5 minutes after that cut off, they will not let you check in or board. many people in several different embarkation ports have reported this to be the case.

Hi, neighbour,

If I'm reading Braemar's itinerary correctly, she overnites in Bridgetown & sails next day.

So there's no question of missing the sailing - which was the concern of those who've responded, and my own initial concern.

Can I presume that you're not on a Fred Olsen charter flight?

If you're on a charter, no worries. You just follow the herd & registration will certainly be open for your flight.

But if you've fixed your own flights on a scheduled aircraft, I don't see a problem either. :)

If registration in the terminal is closed, i would think you just go direct to the ship (show your tickets etc at port security) and register on-board - either there'll be a registration desk at the head of the gangplank for oddballs such as yourselves, or security staff there can sort out staff to register you.

You can gauge whether registration is likely to be open when you arrive if you can find out the arrival time of the last chartered aircraft - but be aware that those on Fred's chartered aircraft go direct from aircraft to transfer bus whereas you will have to go thro the usual immigration, luggage carousel, customs formalities in the airport terminal & I don't know how long that will take.

Or, don't worry about contacting anyone in Barbados - better to e-mail Fred.

The gangway will be open round the clock, it's just the matter of registration so that you can sleep in your cabin rather than in a lifeboat :D

The drive to the port takes vaguely 30 to 40 minutes

JB :)

In my experiences on 'smaller' and boutique cruise ships has been that the check-in happens on board ...

this was the case when sailing windstar from Barbados .... our transportation took us directly to the ship where a quick ID check happened then we were welcomed on board and sat down for a nice chat in the main lounge and completed the rest of the process. This happened similarly on Viking River cruises .... nothing like the cattle call of a main stream cruise ship.

Many thanks all especially John Bull,

I had seen from the itinerary that the Breamar will not leave the Cruise terminal until the evening of the 6th January. So if we could not board on the 5th, one backup option is to overnight at a Bridgetown hotel ££ and board on the 6th.

Indeed we will not be on the Fred Olsen charter flight, hence the concern.

It's good to know that we may be able to go direct to the ship. It may be a bit of a walk with suitcases but I have been informed by Fred Olsen that a crew member will assist in getting the cases up the gangway.

There are charter aircrafts from UK (Gatwick & Manchester) to Barbados on 5th Jan 2017 and I will call tomorrow to find out their scheduled landing times at Grantley Adams airport.

I understand that one can pay for Fast Track arrival service at Grantley Adams airport https://www.viator.com/tours/Barbado...d30-6737BGIVIP that could fast track us through the arrival formalities.

I have been on an Internet chat today with one of Fred's people but they definitely could not let me know how we would fare, icon13.gif even after another employee phoned me, but said that they would phone me again tomorrow.

No worries. :)

Fast-track sounds great - but over £90 for two, not so great.

And Murphy's Law says that you'll be whisked thro immigration, then your bags will be last to hit the carousel.

Customs is the same as anywhere in the world - no line, and if you don't get a tug you don't get delayed.

Up to you, but £90 buys a lot of Pina Coladas. ;)

My wife has needed wheelchair assistance in the past and may need it again.

So to reduce her pain she may appreciate Fast-track.

Ha ha, a tug, I had to use Mr Google and inferred that in this situation it meant luggage inspection by the customs.

Never mind the Pina Coladas, mine's UK real ale. Hic!

I went to their open day last Saturday. 12 excellent beers on tap.
