Rare A&L_Ont Posted November 11, 2016 Author #102 Share Posted November 11, 2016 Next stop, Fort Lauderdale with an overnight stay at the Hyatt Convention Centre off of 17st. I'm hoping Gilbert's 17St Grill will be our feeding station of choice but we are meeting up with a few cruise friends so that has YTBD. More to come later. Rare A&L_Ont Posted November 12, 2016 Author #103 Share Posted November 12, 2016 (edited) We are back, and tucked in for the evening. The remainder of the flight in went well, after all I am posting. [emoji6] If you look carefully in this picture you can see what I believe is Carnival Pride or a freighter. Rare A&L_Ont Posted November 12, 2016 Author #104 Share Posted November 12, 2016 We then turned towards land a saw below us this most wonderful site. The Serenade of the Seas and a couple other tugboats. And for those who ever wondered how far the airport is away from the cruise port, this photo says it all. We had the best taxi driver ever in Fort Lauderdale today. Our fare was $11 from the airport to the Hyatt Convention Centre on 17th St, plus $3 for luggage. He got the $20 for great service. He took a short cut that only 1 other driver had taken us on before. And the most important part, not once did he put our lives in danger. That being said I didn't look at his instrument cluster to see how many warning lights were on, but ignorance is bliss. Rare A&L_Ont Posted November 12, 2016 Author #105 Share Posted November 12, 2016 Is it just me or does our plane look to bigger than the state of Florida. I wonder how many people ended up piled on top of each other at the bottom of this escalator until the put up the warning. Speaking of warning, up next - food porn. Rare A&L_Ont Posted November 12, 2016 Author #106 Share Posted November 12, 2016 We walked from the Hyatt to Embassy Suites and meet up with past cruise friends. After a quick catch up at the Managers Reception we headed for dinner at Gilbert's. Our friends had never been there, and it is a pre-cruise tradition for us. In no order will you see wings, Bree burger, mozzarella burger, bacon cheese burger and possibly a fish sandwich. They loved it and totally understand our tradition. If the photos aren't great please forgive me. I'm a little shy when it comes to food porn pics. [emoji12] Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Rare A&L_Ont Posted November 12, 2016 Author #108 Share Posted November 12, 2016 (edited) After supper Lisa and I headed to Publix to walk the isles. We grabbed a couple of items that we needed and headed back to the hotel. We passed on this, but thought about selling it for profit in Central Park or in front of the Wind Jameuur. We also passed on this. I spotted this in our hotel lobby when we returned. Great job Hyatt. We use ones from Amazon but not everyone is a seasoned cruiser. Having this out and ready is great for the rookie or the forgetful cruiser. Edit, if you can't see it, there are 3 staplers and a tape dispenser. I would have thought your flight to Houston would have had a plane like that, not Florida. You know, everything is bigger in Texas. :D
Rare A&L_Ont Posted November 12, 2016 Author #111 Share Posted November 12, 2016 Brrr, Cold and Windy here today! Enjoy your trip p.s. loved the Canadian Car Chase! I lived in Stratford for a few years and can totally relate. LOL, it is so true. We are just 20 minutes west of Stratford and I put my snow tires on last week. I'm not looking forward to winter at all. Already having post cruise syndrome so glad to see your thread Andrew [emoji4] [emoji6] Sent from Samsung Galaxy Note 5 using Tapatalk I'm more than happy to help you through it. You know how it is, "Welcome on board" followed a week later with "don't let the door hit your a$$on the way out". Next thing I know, you might be asking for compasses, or how many days or hours I have left on the ship.:p On a serious note, I will get those compasses for you. Rare John&LaLa Posted November 12, 2016 #115 Share Posted November 12, 2016 In today's cruise confession I will admit that "I often joke around and that I am that not often am I serious", but you will see that side of me. Today is our day of travel and we will be leaving shortly. More importantly today is November 11th. In Canada it is Remembrance Day and in the States it is Veterans Day. To me it is a day to remember all that served their own country, no matter where they are from. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the Canadian National War Memorial in Ottawa, Ontario. In my last couple of reviews I have posted videos, this one however is suited for today. Anyone reading this from Ontario and Canada will/may already know about the Highway of Heroes. For those reading from out of Canada here is a quick explanation. The Highway of Heroes, is named in honour of Canadian soldiers who have died. It is a dedicated portion of Highway*401, which is the heaviest by volume travelled road in Canada. This length of highway is travelled by the convoy of vehicles carrying a fallen soldier's body, and their family, from Canadian Forces Base Trenton to the Chief Coroner's Office at the Centre for Forensic Sciences in Toronto. Since 2002, when the first fallen Canadian soldiers were repatriated from Afghanistan, crowds have lined the overpasses to pay their respects as convoys pass. The tradition has continued for soldiers post Afghanistan. The song in this video was written and performed by a band called The Trews. It was inspired by the death of a Captain, in 2006, from their home town in Nova Scotia Canada. The photos are from numerous convoys and repatriations of fallen Canadian soldiers. [YOUTUBE]IsCVlM1CSPU[/YOUTUBE] To the men and women of the past, the present and the future, I thank-you for your service. Sent from my iPad using Forums Lovely post. Laura and I are military parents and I appreciate the sentiment. Our cruise baby serves on the USS Reagan somewhere in the Pacific. His accommodations aren't quite as nice as your loft. I also learned that In Flanders Fields is Canadian. And on a lighter note, enjoy your trip. I hope you have a fabulous time and can't wait to see your reviews. This is my first time on a new ship. I sailed oasis and allure several times but after many others had sailed and reviewed. I'm a planner, can't help it. Plus I have 8 others relying on me to plan it. I have so many questions that I don't know the answer to and it's driving me crazy not knowing. Running to guest services first thing. BTW others will be saying the same about me on 11/26. ;) I will be running on at 10:30am on 11/19 and dragging my a$$ on 11/26. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Forums mobile app John, when I was in high school I was a member of the 142 Cadet Corps, which is affiliated with the 48th Highlanders of Canada. My grandfather, that I never met, was a member of the 48th Highlanders. He fought in both the First and Second World Wars. My grandmother met and married him during the war and immigrated to Canada as a war bride, along with her 2 young daughters. I can tell you the pride that my grandmother had seeing me in my full regalia was amazing. I never went further than being a cadet, but it brought an importance of respect and appreciation to me for those that have served. Wherever your cruise baby is tonight, I wish him smooth seas and warm breezes. Please, thank him for me and thank-you both for supporting him. sunnyv Posted November 12, 2016 #119 Share Posted November 12, 2016 Does the Harmony have live webcams around the ship like the Allure and Oasis? (in Central Park, Promenade, the Boardwalk, Pool deck, Aqua theater, etc) If they do, I can't find a link. If they don't have them, could you find out if they will in the near future? Rare A&L_Ont Posted November 12, 2016 Author #121 Share Posted November 12, 2016 (edited) Tonight I will have dreams of Harmony in my head. It will look like this. And the dreams shall focus more on this area of the ship, specifically the port flowrider. Wait a second, that's me on the wave and the line is 3 deep. This is a great dream. Forget the sugarplum fairies, this is my 12 days of Christmas. On the first day of Christmas Lisa gave to me, a cruise on Harmony. On the second day of Christmas Lisa gave to me 2 cabin stewards, 3 main deck pools, 4 human soup tubs, 5 different slides, 6 ping pong tables, 7 days of Promenade sales, 8 frozen bushwhackers, 9 aqua theatre divers, 10 senior officers, 11 decks of cabins, and 12 golden art sales. Now insert that mental image of Lisa placing her hand on her forehead and bridge of her nose, while shaking her head and you get the idea. OK, so maybe there's a few liberties in there, but tomorrow we will find out in person. Today is now And let's see if I can sleep tonight. I'm laying in bed starring the dark ceiling quietly wishing Lisa would wake just as giddy as me. She's sleeping and this is what I woke to. I don't know how Yorkvillain does it. Nicksmom630 is also doing a live review and she was lucky enough  to be awake to see Harmony sail in. Here's a link to her pics. #jealousofherview http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showpost.php?p=51534043&postcount=81 On a serious note she does amazing reviews.
