Correct. It would be a huge waste of space and they would rather you just pay them to do it for you.

LOL... figures. NCL seems to be a fan of grabbing every nickel they can. Princess had them. Or was it Celebrity? Anyway, it was a nice option. :)

That is correct, no self service laundry service on NCL. I believe mid week they do have a special where you can fill a bag and send it out for launder.

I do suggest this though if you are going to do that since I hear alot of complaints about lost skivies, and socks. Pack at least enough undies and socks for however long you are onboard or ones you can just wash in the sink and hang on the line to dry. Send only large items in the bags since they do not seem to label them and put in mixed loads. Perhaps even write your initials on the tags of your items so they know who they are going back to. Otherwise you may loose your items.

I personally just pack for the week and as long as I am wearing undies I can wear most pants/slacks/skirts twice. As well sun dresses can 1st be worn to dinner and then a following day that week over my suit as my outfit of the day(I like fresh clothing for dinner after a shower). Helps cut down on the packing

Probibly Princess since it is in with Carnival and they have them too. Wonder if HAL does too? I don't think RCCL or Celebrity does though.

CONFIRMED !

No self service laundry on NCL.

Options:

You can do small laundry items in your cabin bathroom sink and pull the cord out of the shower stall wall and hang to dry - need faster drying time use the hair dryer sparingly or if in a balcony hang over a chair in front of the open balcony.

NCL has laundry options -

1- the expensive way find the laundry form and bag in a closet and list all the items (WOW for -1-polo shirt $4.95) and fill the bag provided send it out and get it back next day.

2- BEST least expensive way on voyages longer than 6 days NCL has a bundled laundry day special.

Find that form and bag - fill the bag listing all the items being put into it.

You will be charged $20 on your account and get all the items back the next day - wrapped - folded - or on hangers in a neat woven laundry basket (no you can't keep the basket) !

3- ugly option and waste of time - when in port take your laundry to a coin self service laundry or place that does laundry and important have same day HOURLY service so you can get back on the ship timely.

NCL also does dry cleaning for a FEE what did you expect !

Need an ironing board and iron - request it from your Cabin Steward - no charge - tip optional if he does the ironing.

No you can't use the ships pools for laundry at least intentionally !

Weird, I've never lost anything when I have my things laundered.

Last time I had my laundry done on NCL, every item had a sturdy label with our cabin number. I still occasionally find a tiny yellow label stuck to my clothes!

We have sent a good 50 bags of laundry in and never lost as much as one sock. Cram those laundry bags for $20 and enjoy!

We always allow NCL to do our laundry.

They have never lost anything of ours.

I am still finding NCL laundry tags in clothes today. In fact I am right now wearing a pair of trousers that has an NCL laundry tag inside them.

I cannot be bothered to do laundry when on holiday. I use the specials and now I'm Platinum I get a free bag.

Off the NCL DAWN a few weeks ago and NCL is using nifty new nylon bags

instead of the flimsy paper ones. These bags easily hold four days of clothing

for a party of two.

AND YES NCL is still using those scratchy skin nipping tags that are ironed

onto the waist band or hem of a garment in the critical zone of comfort.

For study items you can rip these off - for delicates go easy !

Had a Behind the Scenes tour and a high light was the Laundry Facility.

A big room a Deck below the Stardust Theatre 24/7/365 operation handling

every dirty item on the ship. A question about Lost items - suggestion was

to check your laundered items as soon as possible after return - gives them

a chance to reunite it with you. The unmated items or solo things are gathered

by day of service so that NCL does not have multiple days of lost items to

filter thru for the search process (and that is where those scratchy tags come

into play).

Laundry is picked up daily by your cabin steward doing the morning make up

cabin service and delivered back to you the next day about the same time

almost a 24 hour service.

I have been on Princess Carnival and Holland-America - the laundry service

while adequate if all the machines (washer-dryer) are functional still requires

a raid on the quarters at the Casino $2 (8quarters) for 30 minutes of wash

time and the same for the drying time. Some of these ships have a separate

section off to the side with a fold down ironing board and hardwired iron.

Laundry detergent is available for sale or bring your own.

Remember NCL does not have these self service facilities but remember to

bring you own detergent suds for doing your own in-sink cabin stuff.

A thimble full will do a lot in the cabin sink. A two step process - fill the sink

with water clothes and token amount of soap - agitate and still for a bit -

drain the sink to fill with fresh water rinse - squeeze and lay out to dry -

or rinse in the shower squeezing the soaping residue out - you don't need a

great deal of soap the ships water while questionable for some to drink is

ideal in PH for laundry. Now about those quarters that you don't need to

spend doing your own laundry - good luck at the Casino !

Since you have not sailed on NCL in nearly a decade,,,, Let's correct some incorrect assertions. All large items are labeled with a adhesive label (first picture below is the thermoseal labeler used to apply tags to each laundry item).

Small items are put into a single large meshed bag with the same adhesive label (in the second photo below, you can see the meshed bags and contents associated with each order). Since all small items (socks, dedicates) are washed together and are never separated from the time they leave your laundry bag until the time they are placed in a basket for delivery to your stateroom, it is hard to get separated.

You are 100% correct that each individual guest bag of laundry does not get a dedicated washer (not cost effective with the washers onboard in third picture).

The laundry runs 24/7. On a small 2000+ passenger ship (like the Dawn in the first 3 pictures), the laundry will wash over 10,000 napkins a day,,, in addition to towels, sheets, uniforms, etc. On a large ship like the Escape, 45 lbs of napkins and small linens are loaded at a time into a 12 stage tour-bus-size washing machine that automatically advances the loads of laundry through 12 internal compartments, then automatically up a floor for drying and folding (4th picture).

HAL has it on their older ships, with FREE on the Prisendam.

Not on RCCL on Anthem of the Sea.

Just got off the Jade this past Sunday. They are still using the heavy paper bags. I used them three times in 14 days (had precruise stay). Each time I fit 5 days of laundry for two people. I Stuff socks in corners, roll underwear and tees and cram them in, put slacks flat on top.
