Liberty vs valor

Me and my gf scheduled a cruise for april 2017. I received an email from carnival that the liberty was going to dry dock in dec. And our ship will now be the valor and we will get "similar" accommodations. Has anyone ever had this happen before? Does anyone know why the liberty is going to dry dock? I spent HOURS picking put the perfect room and the right ship, will carnival give us any kind of compensation. I'm just really confused as to why this is happening

I'll just add that we've been on both Valor and Liberty. You can't go wrong with either, we LOVE both. :)

A few years ago, we were booked on the Liberty out of Port Canaveral. They brought Valor in to replace Liberty as they swapped ports.

 

Got the same balcony room we had booked on the Liberty and was the same itinerary. No problems for us. :)

I was just on the Valor last month. I loved the ship, it is one of my favorites. I am really disappointed it is leaving Florida since that is where I cruise from.

I've been on both - same class of ship. I would sail either one again - no problem.
