I will reply to the OP regarding Barcelona.

A friend and I stayed at the Hotel Montecarlo pre-cruise. It is located right on Las Rambla, and offers comfortable beds, modern bathrooms, very clean, friendly helpful staff, and decent rates. There's an indoor bar and lounge area that's open in the evening, but there's also a rooftop lounge area, and with a Carre Four grocery store across the street where we purchased wine and freshly made empanadas, we had a nice meal while chatting with some other cruisers who were boarding the same ship. Very pleasant!!

We booked our rooms online using the hotel's website after researching on Trip Advisor.
