midwestchick Posted November 26, 2016 #1 Share Posted November 26, 2016 I don't understand why we have yet another last minute change on Dec. 16. Now we're going to Ocho Rios instead of Labadee and there are no shore excursions available. My TA is not even aware of the change yet. What is going on with Azamara and their port changes? I wish we would get an explanation.

I, for one, am pleased not to be going to Labadee where there would have been up to 5400 passengers from Allure of the Seas along with little old us'ns. We have three weeks between now and Ocho Rios and I expect there will be shore excursions available before December 16. Excursions are too good a money-maker for the cruise line to pass them up. Thanks, marinaro. I don't think I saw Bonnie's post about a communication. Somehow I missed it. Labadee doesn't bother me either...I've seen enough pics and videos from the X trip reports to know I wouldn't want to go there. I just found it strange there are so many last minute changes. Now, back to packing. :D Edited November 26, 2016 by midwestchick
GermanUser Posted November 26, 2016 #4 Share Posted November 26, 2016 (edited) This change is done because at least one German TA, which booked for a group of Germans, complained about the former changes. We were looking forward to go to Jamaika and not to Labadee! But we were already told two days ago from our TA that Jamaica will come back on the itinerary. easyboy Posted November 26, 2016 #5 Share Posted November 26, 2016 Interesting that Azamara will change an itinerary based on a complaint of a TA. Sent from my SGH-M919 using Forums mobile app
QueenP Posted November 26, 2016 #6 Share Posted November 26, 2016 Maybe I should try that...our itinerary has been changed and one port I really wanted to see is now missing and we have a repeat visit to another from the cruise before (we are b2bing). Annoying! Sent from my SM-J200Y using Forums mobile app
GermanUser Posted November 26, 2016 #7 Share Posted November 26, 2016 In a way it is just a "rollback". Jamaica was offered on the original itinerary and was replaced by an other port, in this case Labadee. This was for some people not an equivalent option and so they asked for a change back to Jamaica.
Grandma Cruising Posted November 26, 2016 #8 Share Posted November 26, 2016 But I think Jamaica may not be the planned stop at Port Antonio. We went there on our cruise and apparently the excursions were poor, so we were told ( we did our own thing - not masses to see). GermanUser Posted November 26, 2016 #9 Share Posted November 26, 2016 Now it is Ocho Rios instead of Port Antonio. Port Antonio was canceled because of complaints from passengers on former cruises gone there. In the first place Jamaica was replaced with Labadee and now "changed back" to Ocho Rios. BBMacLaird Posted November 27, 2016 #10 Share Posted November 27, 2016 Hello Midwestchick, As marinaro44 mentions, on another thread I've posted that an official communication should come out tomorrow, Monday. I know it's unsettling to have so many port changes, and so close in to departure. It's unsettling for us as well....this is NOT our SOP, as you know from sailing so often with Azamara. Changes are only made for *three reasons*...operational necessity (e.g. no pier or tendering possibility, etc), guest satisfaction, and/or guest safety (weather, etc.) *If I think of any other reasons I'll post them!
