Ask me anything. My wife and I are currently sailing on the Triumph. We have almost done everything on the ship. NOLA/Cozumel/Progreso

Let us know your questions and I'll see about answering as much as I can before we arrive back in port (NOLA)

How would you rate the condition of the ship, quality of the crew & ship congestion (lines, etc.).

We've booked a family cruise on her for next year and am a little concerned about the quality. Guess we've been spoiled with Vista, Dream & Breeze. Haven't sailed on Triumph since 2000.

Appreciate any info you can provide.

What are some must do things on this ship in your opinion? How was the food? Any food items you recommend? Also how was the entertainment?

What's the weather like in Cozumel and Progresso? I'll be there in 2 weeks.

I don't know about the original poster but we just got off the Triumph on Dec 10 and thought that the ports were great with 80deg weather and the crew was friendly and great also but the lines at the Lido were the worst we have encountered on any ship!

Mostly because at lunch they only opened 1 side and kept the other side open as brunch/breakfast. It took an extra hour or so at lunch time for them to switch that other side to lunch also and that made it more crowded(IMO)

They did have a real live band for the production show/s so that was great!

What were the temps like on board. I'm trying to figure out what to pack. First cruise.

We're on her this Thursday when you return. Looking forward to a relaxing four nights. We'll be there on Sunday and my son is curious about where he can see some football games between swimming and sliding and eating.

Did you notice if you saw any games this past Sunday and where?

Im doing a full review When I get back but thought I would just at least Q&A on the ships wifi.

So a little about us, we are first time cruisers who usually stay in nice hotels and resorts (Hyatt, Sandals etc)

How would we rate the ships condition: Its beautiful, clearly due to salt water there is rust in places, but during this cruise we have watched the staff clean nearly 24/7 it never stops. The crew have been amazing, nice and very friendly at all times.

Congestion: I mean there's 4000? People on board, it can get a little hectic, everyone seems to be fine. While there is lines at most of the places the staff definitely move people along quickly and efficiently and it's never more than just a few mins.

Overall it's been a great experience with little or no negatives. Like I said I will do a full recap with pics and video as soon as I get back home on Saturday or Sunday.

What are some must do things on this ship in your opinion? How was the food? Any food items you recommend? Also how was the entertainment?

must do's: Chefs Table, Magic show, The live band (Powerline) with any of the singers is amazing.

Explore the ship it's a blast, at the front of deck 10 there is two doors that go on a "secret deck" that can put you on top of the captains brodge, I've been out here now 10 times and never seen anyone except crew, it's quite and peaceful and very little light perfect for star gazing.

The crew activities, while cheesy loosen you and everyone else up. Casino is a Casino but fun and nicely laid out. There is just so much to do on the ship it's hard to fit everything in.

Tonight (Progresso) they shut down the dance floor for a kids dance for a few hours which we thought was fun-our kids are at home but it was fun to see all the kiddos having a fun time.

Food:

Breakfast- Lido to be honest is Meh (Buffet) the omelet station the Paris dining room or Blue Iguana burrito bar is great.

Lunch- Guys Burger bar best lunch item on ship similar to (5 Guys or Fatburger) always busy.

Buffet- Again Meh, DO NOT TRY THR DESSERTS, by far the worst thing or food I have ever experienced, it has become a joke with my wife and I about how bad they were/are. We tried 2 times, 2 different days and it was embarrassing.

Chopsticks, Seafood Bar, Pizza, Blue iguana and Deli where great and we had many times.

Dinner- Try to eat in the dining room, fun service and meals were good. Don't be afraid to order 1 or 2 things a lot of people do this as we found out.

We felt that generally inside the ship it ran cool/cold most of the areas. We are deck 10 so again I can't speak for further down decks. Our AC performs extremely well almost to well. We packed light sweaters and jeans/pants and found ourselves in these most evenings.

How early were you able to get off in Cozumel? We're not in a huge hurry but would like to get off and see some of the city before our snorkeling excursion.

Sure, Cozumel was easy and fast, I think we cheated slightly just as the first people where getting off we took the elevator to deck 0 and found ourselves basically in the line to leave the ship... now I'll say this was not the correct thing to do as we found out during Progreso your suppose to meet I think on deck 5 and start lining up.

So do what you wish, we where in Cozumel shopping area which is mins away from the dock in about 5mins.

Most tours did not start till 10 so you had pleanty of time to hit up the shops.

In Progresso we lined up correctly and took us 15-20mins to get off.

Sports lounge had everything, we missed Sunday's games but caught Monday night football and it was great. The sports lounge is fun but small, get in early to grab a super comfy seat.

The ships are always cold.

This one does not have a normal thermostat in the room but there are 2 circular vents on the ceiling that can be adjusted to reduce the air flow and to make the cabin a bit warmer. Our cabin steward did that for us the first day we arrived. He also gave me an extra blanket which I used while sitting on our couch. I always bring some sort of wrap/sweater etc because it can get cold. Our last night was freezing because the temps outside dropped and New Orleans was down into the 20s when we arrived back at the port!!!

You don't have to go to the meeting place for tours in order to leave the ship early. You can just go off and onto the pier. The pier area in Cozumel with shops is just Carnival's pier and is NOT the city at all. You would have to take a taxi into the city and might not then have time to get back for your tour. It depends on what time your tour is scheduled to start. Cozumel is one hour ahead of ship's time so if you get off at 8:30 it is 9:30 in town. I think that's about when we were off.

We did it on our own so we didn't have time pressure

Thanks for this comment. We have early seating scheduled dining; I have taken a total of 5 cruises (Premier, Disney, Celebrity), all more than 15 years ago. Always, food in the MDR was excellent and we never waited. Like never. You go during your time, and you eat. And the food was always great, even on lowly Premier. So our plan is to really eat every available meal there (plus Suess breakfast), and maybe sneak in a Guy's burger, room service, or pizza at some point. On my prior cruises, buffets were mostly for embarkation and "midnight" so I am trying to understand why everyone fights these lines when they could be served in the MDR.

We have kept everything so I'll make sure to post it all.

Thanks, looking forward to your review and Fun Times. By any chance did you get a Club Ocean schedule for sea days? I am a really early riser; I don't suppose you noticed anywhere to get regular coffee before 6am?
