CHUCKIE50 Posted December 16, 2016 #4 Share Posted December 16, 2016 Does anyone know when the Millennium is getting a refurbishment? Millie just had a refurb in May 2016. Haven't heard of any future plans for the next drydock. http://www.celebritycruises.com/ships/celebrity-millennium This brilliant star of the Millennium® Class shines even brighter after her grand makeover in May 2016. rsail203 Posted December 16, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted December 16, 2016 Thank you for the info. I hadn't paid any attention to this ship until just recently so I didn't know about the refurbishment.
frenchcanrican Posted December 16, 2016 #6 Share Posted December 16, 2016 I was just in Millie 3 weeks ago. The ship looks nice at a quick glance. Once you start looking more it is old and could use a longer dry dock. The new carpets and restaurants are great. The service is awesome. It's just everything else in between that needs TLC. cruiseerf Posted December 16, 2016 #7 Share Posted December 16, 2016 Hello All: When a cruiseline says they are doing a major Refurb......That can mean one of two things.....A soft refurb.....Carpets, beds, some curtains etc......or Major needed construction.....The M class ships was the later of the two choices. The M Class ships had Engine issues fixed, They had new Washing and drying machines put in that necessitated the Cutting of the Hull of the ship......Giant Cuts to get the old machinery out and the new machinery in....Re wiring and re venting each one......Each machine can be in the Millions.....And a variety of other Technical type improvements. They did some soft refurb on the bigger suites.....Royal and PH.....but it was really not much in the Newly Refurbed Celebrity suite I was in.....You sat on the couch and hit bottom fast and slid to the center of the couch.....It was terrible. And you had to climb into the Jacuzzi tub which was a two and a half foot step!!!! While I like these ships itineraries.....Their refurbs were sold as gods great gift and they pretty much look the same and really needed a-lot more work. IMHO. Safe sails to all. Should also be noted that Millennium had major work done in 2014 so she had two refurbs in two years and few months which is very unusual.
