Need Suggestions - Seafood Restaurant on the water - Tampa Cruiseport

Ok. So, anyone got any ideas on a nice waterfront seafood restaurant for the night before a cruise in Tampa?

when in Tampa you have two choices

 

Bern's Steakhouse http://www.bernssteakhouse.com/

 

or Columbia (Ybor city original location) http://www.columbiarestaurant.com/

 

everything else is a step down IMO .... I drive 3 hours each way for a meal at Bern's - or make it an overnight

Stay away from appetizers and don't get crazy with the wine list and Bern's is actually not bad considering you get soup and salad and potato and vegetable ....

 

of course to do it right you ignore both of these points AND enjoy the desert room too!

 

done right Bern's does cost a bit but it is also 3 hours of entertainment. not just a meal, you can tour the kitchen and the wine cellar. as compared to a live show costing some where from $50 to $100 or more for 2 hours, Bern's is reasonable IMO

I second Columbia, but trekking to the Ybor City location isn't necessary. There's a water front location in Tampa. Split some tapas and a pitcher of sparkling sangria [emoji126]

The Columbia is NOT expensive unless you're comparing it to McDonalds.

You could get seafood on the waterfront at Jacksons. It is a short walk over the bridge to Harbor Island and you can sit inside or outside. Lovely place and usually lively.

The 'water front' location of Columbia (at Tampa Bay History Center)

 

is a 'cafe' and not a full restaurant

 

the cafes have a limited menu, while the Ybor is the full menu ...

I third Columbia.

 

While Berns can be reasonable, when we go to Berns, we are going to Berns. We aren't splitting stuff.

 

We are ordering a steak each, appetizer, pre cocktail for dinner, and a good Barolo with dinner.

 

We aren't getting out cheap.

 

Columbia on the other hand, we are getting paella and sangria. Cheap compared to Berns.

next time get one big steak to split unless your tastes vary widely

 

Bern's recommends this as one big steak cooks differently than two smaller pieces. Each person gets their own full set of sides .... I've shared with 4 other people and it was great. Btw, everyone need not agree on the wellness (within reason) Bern's will cook one half one way, and the other a bit more/less without cutting the piece ....
