Still Waiting To Board Dec 26th Breeze - 3:38 pm

Well - the Captain made the announcement that the Port has been closed. Most agreed it is better to be safe. We will likely wake up to this view tomorrow - many are saying we will likely be fogged in until just before noon. The Casino remains closed and apparently there is a limited offering of alcohol since we are still in Texas (we do not drink but have heard the waitstaff say this fact over and over when asked what they are serving). And of course the shops are closed as well. Lots of people heading to the Welcome Aboard Show and some of the comedy offerings. I'll post again before we leave. 😊 d73ab3b0894e5f0b9371979f4c9925c4.jpg

Taking my very first cruise on the breeze Jan 15, thanks for the heads up about the fog. I will be prepared just incase. That's why I love reading about everyone's adventures, you pick up so many tips, and really learn alot. I am so excited. I hope your trip is wonderful, and you get to board soon. Please write a review so I can read it and be ready for mine. BOVAGE

I will definitely take time to post a review! I love to read them too!

oh no, sorry to hear! We're boarding the Breeze January 22nd and we have a nice, early embarkation slot reserved... hope we don't have the same problem.

Good Morning from Galveston (not going to lie - we are getting pretty tired of foggy Galveston)! Reporting live from the docked Breeze! There is so much fog this morning we can barely see the other side of the Channel (the picture below is from my balcony just now - you can almost make out the lights from some type of industrial dock - maybe 30 yards away. Looks like we will be connected to the dock for a while until the fog lifts. Good news is we are all all able to use our data for free. No one is using the Hub App because you actually have to turn your phone to Airplane Mode to use it.

Getting to "unplug" while on a cruise is one of my favorite parts of cruising so hopefully when we do get to sail (we had a 4 hour window - 240 entire minutes - without fog in Galveston yesterday and are all praying we get the same today) unplugging will be a joy!

Carnival has, IMO, stepped up to the challenge. All of the "free" places to eat stayed open extra late last night (people were still carying around Guys Burgers until almost 9:00 - they typically close at 6:00) and my son went to find some food at 10:00 and the sushi place was still catering to hungry people (he said it was delicious and very reasonably priced).

The Cruise director (Will maybe) has kept all announcements as upbeat as possible coming on frequently to announce activities that we happening and new ones they had added (people seem to really miss the Casino!). The Captain has made maybe three announcements (mostly, unfortunately, with bad news) then our cruise director comes on right afterwards to translate for us (I always have the hardest time understanding the ship's captains).

I think the whole ship will roar with delight when we finally pull anchor! In a strange way most have kind of bonded over this foggy extraordinary delay.

They have not made an announcement about our first port, Costa Maya, yet, however since we are now almost 14 hours behind schedule things are not looking good. Our cabin steward - one of the best we've ever had - Korn - handed us our Fun Times for tomorrow saying everything would run on schedule that they were allowed to open (no Casino and no shops).

I'll post again when we get an update. Strangely enough it is quite therapeutic to share this with my Cruise Critic friends. 😉7fca0a07147aec7d1b82f582ac77ada0.jpg

So glad you are taking this in stride. Sorry you might miss Costa Maya. Know you had some things planned there. Hoping the title of your cruise review doesn't wind up being :Our Foggy Breeze to Nowhere":D

Hahaha! Me too! How sad would that be! Surely we will get to rolling soon!

Wow crazy hope all works out ok. We leave in 19 days from Tampa and there has been some fog lately so hope Mother Nature doesn't hamper our cruise on the Pride.

Cheers and happy cruising.

Some of the locals said the fog was worse than usual. They said it's foggy a LOT in the winter months here but that this was pretty extreme. 😩

We are going with the "everything happens for a reason" theory!

Oh my goodness, just read all the post. Checked the Web cam and like wow:eek::eek: still super foggy. I sure feel bad for ya'll, and I sure hope that that doesn't happen to us in january. On a good the sun is out here and headed your way.

Very unfortunate for sure, however safety comes first. You have a very positive attitude . Enjoy your cruise once the ship sails.

On a side I wonder why Texas doesn't change the law regarding alcohol sales while in port. The state is missing out on collecting taxes while in port like they do in Fla.

Thanks for reporting on the Breeze. I am one of those sailing her in a few weeks and have been worried about the fog.

Well the good news is that the locals are saying this is highly unusual! Perhaps you will not have as much fog for your upcoming cruise!

Hahaha! All of my adult children would agree with you 100%!!!

We're on the same ship and can echo that Carnival had done a great job so far trying to keep things upbeat and helpful. We've scheduled massages for this morning and are just planning to go with the flow.

Some lessons learned so far:

* As my daughter said, Faster to the Fun is a lot funnier than we thought and could not be more worth the cost. I'm know there's often much debate about how FTTF is an unnecessary cost because you can just arrive a little later, but moments like this make it worth it. We arrived around 5:00 last night and the line was snaked at least a quarter of a mile. We showed our FTTF and skipped the entire line and went straight to our cabins. My family was officially in love with me!

* Don't be afraid to ask questions. The crew have been so very helpful and willing to go out of their way when you ask. But they aren't mind readers.

* Pack patience!!! And, like always - Attitude is everything. Carnival cannot control the weather so there is no need to take out your frustration on them or each other!
