Cruise on Thanksgiving day, would you fly that day?

"It depends" would be my reply.

There is no one correct answer that applies in all cases.

For me, the prime consideration would be the cruise itinerary.

With the possibility of missing the ship (which is always a possibility when you fly in on the day of the cruise),

the location of the first port where we would be able to board, how we would get there, and at what cost are all factors that would matter to me.

Another consideration would be the temperament of my travel companions.

At times we travel with experienced frequent fliers who take setbacks in stride, but other times we travel with some family members who are nervous types, likely to start freaking out if we should miss the ship, even if we were able to board a day later at a nearby port.

If that should happen, we would have to endure hearing them complain about it for years to come; simply not worth the risk. :D

My personal preference is always to fly in at least a few days before a cruise, relax, unwind and enjoy the port city and surrounding areas, but that isn't always an option.
