From what I've been told, you are very lucky to have a fine day in Milford Sound, Dusky and Doubtful Sounds.

We were there on a cruise 12 months ago and it was cold and wet. One advantage was that the waterfalls were really flowing and snow still on the mountains. It is beautiful in all weather , but on some cruises, they miss it altogether as it is unsafe for the big ships to enter.

We sure did have a nice day. And there was still snow on the caps of the mountains and waterfalls flowing....even got to hang around at the Milford Resort end a couple of hours waiting for the overnight excursion people to return.

We were very lucky, that night, we passed through some pretty rough weather. The next day, the captain announced the Front (we had past through) was currently hitting the Fiordlands. Very strong winds, swirls and rain. Missed it by one day.....:)
