Thorben-Hendrik Posted January 1, 2017 #4 Share Posted January 1, 2017 Why would that be? Just because he is a clown?
CRUISEFAN0001 Posted January 1, 2017 #5 Share Posted January 1, 2017 (edited) Having spent about 20 minutes with Captain Johnny in person and sailed with him twice...I learned a lot about him. What makes him special: 1) He is a highly experienced cruise ship Captain 2) He appreciates his job 3) He wants passengers to have the best cruise experience (every cruise) 4) He believes some mild humor periodically adds some fun to a cruise 5) He appreciates the work of his crew 6) Every passenger counts and should enjoy their cruise, regardless of status, cabin location, or other ego factors 7) He still has a strong passion for what he does, despite decades of doing it It appears that one person now in this thread only posts on this site regarding the "critic" part of Cruise Critic, rather than fact-based input. Unreal. Kudos to Captain Johnny...hope to be sailing with him again on Harmony later this year. Edited January 1, 2017 by CRUISEFAN0001
Joe12 Posted January 1, 2017 #6 Share Posted January 1, 2017 I would agree that Captain Johnny is an excellent captain, and the crew do like him. Had him on Allure, but missed him on Harmony, but we enjoyed Captain Gus as well!
Rare A&L_Ont Posted January 1, 2017 #7 Share Posted January 1, 2017 (edited) We sailed on Allure with Captain Johnny during Hurricane Sandy he was no clown. There is nothing wrong with a Captain with a sense of humour, and takes his job seriously. Edited January 1, 2017 by A&L_Ont
crosby99 Posted January 2, 2017 #8 Share Posted January 2, 2017 Having spoken to several staff on the Harmony he is well liked it seems by all. You don't keep getting given the top ships by just being a clown which guests find funny the is a serious serious and experienced master there as well.
