Snorkeling Equipment Rental

Eden Rock and Sunset House are both popular shore snorkeling sites with dive shops 'right there' that rent gear.

MFS will run around $10 al a cart pricing also available (Sunset, $5 each item ...)

{Sunset House has a "no off site rentals" policy due to theft ..... dunno about Eden's policy in that regard}

Is one of those locations better for beginners?

I personally wouldn't take beginners to either location. The water is deep (no standing anywhere for a break) and the current is very strong. As Capt BJ has said in the past, this is 'big boy' snorkelling.

About one in three visits to Paradise Restaurant/Eden Rock, DH has had to tow an exhausted cruise visitor to shore.

A better location for a beginner would be Cemetery Beach at the far end of Seven Mile Beach, or Smith Cove.

this IS big boy snorkeling but for the record under normal conditions virtually no current. When the surf is up (not common, but more possible in winter and spring) no one would want to snorkel here .....

big boy in regards to depth .... no place to stand up ... you are on 'real reef' where as the other places you mention are shallow and just some spotty coral on the sandy bottom or along the shore line. (you should never stand on coral anyway). It is easy for a novice to get so caught up in what they are seeing at Eden or Sunset that they don't realize how far out they are getting . . .
