ship pools in Alaska in July

Okay, here's a silly question perhaps, but other family cruisers can appreciate. How usable are the outdoor pools on the cruise ships in Alaska in July? We're looking at booking on the Ruby Princess. They say the pools are heated. But seriously - how cold is it? My kids love to swim on the cruise ships. I'm thinking kids can perhaps tolerate the cold better than adults? Hopefully my 19 year old nephew will be willing to swim with my 9 and 6 year old?! So I don't have to? One can hope.... Or do we just nix the idea of swimming?

If the pool is covered it is very nice but we found the outdoor heated pool on holland to be too chilly. I looked up the Ruby and it does not seem to have a covered pool, so my guess is that depending on the weather it may or may not be a bit chilly.
