TupeloHoney Posted January 9, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 9, 2017 Okay, here's a silly question perhaps, but other family cruisers can appreciate. How usable are the outdoor pools on the cruise ships in Alaska in July? We're looking at booking on the Ruby Princess. They say the pools are heated. But seriously - how cold is it? My kids love to swim on the cruise ships. I'm thinking kids can perhaps tolerate the cold better than adults? Hopefully my 19 year old nephew will be willing to swim with my 9 and 6 year old?! So I don't have to? One can hope.... Or do we just nix the idea of swimming?
Bridget31 Posted January 9, 2017 #2 Share Posted January 9, 2017 I have to admit that we opt for the hot tubs, but Alaska can definitely be warm in July! I think you should go prepared and do the toe test.
cb at sea Posted January 9, 2017 #3 Share Posted January 9, 2017 It will depend on the temps....it can be quite warm in July..so I'd give it a go, if I got hot enough. Otherwise, you might be able to lie out...and not need to get wet!
williamsk Posted January 9, 2017 #4 Share Posted January 9, 2017 If the pool is covered it is very nice but we found the outdoor heated pool on holland to be too chilly. I looked up the Ruby and it does not seem to have a covered pool, so my guess is that depending on the weather it may or may not be a bit chilly. Kerry's Girls Posted January 9, 2017 #6 Share Posted January 9, 2017 It was warm enough for the kids to use the outdoor pools on our Alaska cruise. I wouldn't promise them they'll be able to, but it's a possibility based on weather. Best, Mia
