Port or Starboard?

Okay, so this is not a burning issue but I thought it might be a fun and possibly informative topic. We are among the apparently (from cabin prices) dwindling crowd that like to see the ocean while cruising and book an exterior balcony cabin. It seems like only yesterday that ALL balconies were "exterior", but I digress. Our favorite itinerary is the Western Caribbean and we always seem to book a port side cabin. We have tried both but always seem to come back to the port side for some reason. I can't really explain why but we just seem to like it better. Maybe because of the western facing sunset views on the way back up?

 

How about it? Does anyone else have a preference and why?

Port side on westbound transatlantic cruises, otherwise whatever is least expensive.

on our balcony with a glass of bubbly in hand is our tradition. :)

Good point! We tend to enjoy the sunsets on the return leg and miss them on sail away. We do get to see the sunrise while eating our room service breakfast on the down leg. I guess either way you give up something.

Nah...I look at it as a win...win anyway. On the ship, what's not to like! :D
