Anyone take the tri-rail down to port of Miami?

If you are determined to solely use public transportation, you can take Tri-Rail to the Amtrak/Metrorail Transfer station, then Metrorail to downtown Miami (Government Center station) then the City of Miami Trolley (Coral Way route) to the port:

...but you better have very minimal luggage to squeeze on and off the trolley.

Alternatively you can get a taxi from Government Center station, but may be difficult on the weekend. Or just take Tri-Rail to the end of the line at MIA airport and grab a taxi from there.

Or for $15 each you can get onto a shared shuttle in the FLL area and get dropped off at your ship - no transfers, no waiting on trains, no squeezing with minimal luggage, etc.

You can be cheap, or you can be smart.

Its easy and comfortable.

Tri rail is $5pp on weekends.

Take Tri rail to the Metro Rail transfer station.

Metro Rail is $2.25pp.

Ride the Metro Rail to the Government Center station.

Now, Metro Mover, (free) will get you to Biscayne Blvd.

You can find a taxi for the 1 mile ride into the port or take a taxi from the Government Center station, 1.5 mile ride.

I have ridden Tri rail with two suitcases and Metro rail with two suitcases.

29" and a 21" bags.

Its not that complicated, its public transportation.

Yup - on the weekends Tri-Rail runs about once an hour :(so hopefully you make the train without too much of a wait. And hopefully you make the connections to Metro Mover and Metro Rail without too much of a delay :(, and then you are faced with a $10 cab ride to your ship. :(

So 1.5-2+ hours and three connections compared to a one way, $15, shuttle straight to my ship.

I know when to squeeze a penny and when to pay for convenience -- I'll choose the shuttle (or Uber). ;)

I used to take the Tri Rail to Coral Gables from Fort Lauderdale all the time when my husband worked there.

It's comfortable and cheap but I only recommend it if you do it during the day and if you can manage your luggage.

There is no one to help you with your luggage and you must transfer to Metrorail.
