compozer Posted January 21, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 21, 2017 Four of us are getting off the ship a day early and going to Paris. For those who have done this in the past, what type of transportation did you use? Figured we would sleep in and relax until early afternoon. We have looked into the train, a bus and private car. Looking to hear from others about their experiences. Thanks so much.

Spideysmum Posted January 21, 2017 #3 Share Posted January 21, 2017 (edited) We are doing just that on our May BI cruise. Taking train from gare Le Havre to Gare Lazare in Paris and metro to our apartment. It will be about 100 Euros for the two of us first class. mail4cindyr Posted January 21, 2017 #4 Share Posted January 21, 2017 Be careful as it's a really long trip into Paris and back. Most of your day will be spent waiting for the train if you can even get on! Many people have gotten stuck not getting back in time to even see the boat sail away! I recommend a ship excursion if you even attempt this. Otherwise, entertain one of the shorter distance excursions! Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app OP is doing the full disembark at LeHavre. It is fairly common because you can end with some extra time in Paris, and avoid LHR's extra fees. Well, at least that's why I considered it. :p

Spideysmum Posted January 21, 2017 #7 Share Posted January 21, 2017 (edited) I would also add that if you decide upon the train to check schedules for a direct train to Paris otherwise you'd have to change at Rouen. katisdale Posted January 22, 2017 #8 Share Posted January 22, 2017 A friend of ours did this last year. You must go through French immigration when you get off the ship. You will do a different type of immigration than those going on excursions. You will not be able to choose the time to get off, that time will be chosen for you by the French customs authorities. They did take a train to Paris. I will check with them and come back if they have any other data.
casavaha Posted January 22, 2017 #9 Share Posted January 22, 2017 I think the train is the best. Check schedules, allow plenty of time. Take the fastest train possible. The station in Le Havre requires a taxi. Enjoy Paris, even for a short time. We have done this twice. Greg

Please do check for any more information. Thanks so much.
