With a passport do you need your birth cert?

Going on our first cruise tomorrow and the anxiety is certainly kicking in. I have printed out all of our documentation from Carnival's website, including boarding passes and luggage tags. Quick question: We both have our passports, will we need to bring any other form of ID like our birth certificates also? Or just the passports and driver's license?

No birth certificate needed if you have a passport.

The only reason you might also need your drivers license onboard would be to use as a photo ID, along with your ship's card when you return back to the ship from a port (if you prefer not to take your passport off the ship)

Have a wonderful cruise!!!

Thank you!!

Okay so when you return to the ship from a port, it's recommended to have your passport on you?

Some ports will require some sort of ID before letting you onto the pier area. You will need your ship's sign/sail card to board the ship regardless.

Some people are uncomfortable taking a passport off the ship because they might lose it or get it stolen and will use their DL; others feel the opposite and bring their passports off the ship, cause it'll be easier to catch up with the ship if they miss it.

Your choice.

If you choose to leave it on board, leave it in the cabin safe. Supposedly, ship security or someone like that will go and open your safe to get your passport and leave it with the port agent if it looks like you'll miss the ship.
