Burrata Posted February 6, 2017 #1 Share Posted February 6, 2017 Sailing on the Breakaway on 2/19!! :) Husband and I plan on doing self-assist when we return to NYC. We plan on bringing carry on sized bags and don't mind stairs. Did read tips about getting up early to line up, using a porter to get through customs and using the aft exit. How long does it usually take? Will we make a 12pm train from Penn Station? thanks in advance!
AP1016 Posted February 6, 2017 #2 Share Posted February 6, 2017 Hi. I'm on this sailing as well :) Def get a porter - we always do and are through customs in 15/20 minutes!

Gershep Posted February 7, 2017 #4 Share Posted February 7, 2017 You will definitely make your train if you do self walk off.
Rare Laszlo Posted February 7, 2017 #5 Share Posted February 7, 2017 You don't need a porter. My wife and I have sailed out of NYC 3 times, once you get in line its 30 minutes at the most, it can't get much easier. If your older or don't have rolling luggage then get a porter, anyone else you really don't need one
Budget Queen Posted February 7, 2017 #6 Share Posted February 7, 2017 I never get a porter either. I also just walk down 12th Ave to 42nd/ Circle Line and take the 42 bus to Port Authority. If you don't have a Metrocard (use the same method to get there, buy the Metrocard at the Port Authority subway station, load with all the rides needed, one card) then you need $2,75 in COIN. Burrata Posted February 7, 2017 Author #8 Share Posted February 7, 2017 thanks everyone for your input! I guess I am overthinking this! I had read previous posts that the line can get very long with those who really can't do self-assist but try anyway. counting the days!
Bobrunner Posted February 7, 2017 #9 Share Posted February 7, 2017 Never used a porter. What is the going rate?
