Regent Seven Seas Navigator dinner times

Does open seating mean show up when you will, or do we need to make specific reservations for the main dining room? That would be a chore because it's a 22 day cruise and we have sel cited tours which may return close to the dinner hour and have to guesstimate when they will really get us back and how long it will take us to freshen up--will we want to bathe before changing for dinner-- How have you handled this?

We have sailed often on Crystal and Silversea but this is our first trip on this line.

They do not make reservations in Compass Rose or Sette Mare. If you tried to make one, they wouldn't take it. (I have seen some of the large tables for 8 reserved occasionally, but that is because a large party is wanting to sit together.) You show up when you wish to dine. Opens at 6:30. Reservations are needed for Prime 7 only on Navigator.
