Mahjong

We are scheduled to travel on Viking Sky Apr.15/17 and several of the ladies taking our cruise enjoy playing Mahjong. Does anyone know if Viking has game sets on board? They are far too heavy to pack in luggage.

They didn't have them on the Viking Sea in December. If Viking is reading this thread, it would be nice to have a few sets, especially on cruises with multiple sea days.

Lingalong our friend Judy will be on our cruise,,,you are on our sailing....she loves mahjohng! On our roll call maybe someone can figure out who to bring the set if there is not one onboard....

I will be traveling on the Viking of the Sea on March 26th and taking your advise I just emailed Viking Ocean and asked if they could obtain a few sets for us. Thanks so much for that suggestion.

My sister, Debi, also on our cruise, sent a request and was advised to bring her own. I don't believe Viking realizes how heavy these sets are (10-15 lbs).

 

I have sent in my request and also advised that on our Viking River cruise in China Aug/2013, there were several sets on board and they were well utilized by passengers. The cost of $60-$75 per set would be a modest investment by Viking resulting in customer satisfaction. The sets could be signed out at the customer service desk. Little risk to Viking.

 

Come on Viking. Let's do it.

You might also want to tell them that most other cruise lines have a few mah jongg sets on board.

Don't know if it'll satisfy your needs but there are number of tables with seating for four located in the atrium that had large 'virtual' touchscreens. They had a variety of games including mahjongg, chess and others. Didn't seem them used much - I don't think many folks noticed - but they were there. We played scrabble and backgammon with the 'real' sets they provided.

Good news.Viking just called me to let me know that they will be supplying Mahjong sets on board the Sky.

Assume the sister ships will also be included in this action.

We're on the Star March 29 2018, my friend and I both play.. hoping that others on board play. No one is on our thread at this time. Maybe as we get closer to sailing.

You could also ask on the roll call for your sailing if there are any other mahjong players. It is a small roll call right now, so I would wait until it gets closer to your sail date to ask, so that more people may see it.
