jkrislc Posted February 21, 2017 #26 Share Posted February 21, 2017 Update:My cabin steward stopped me in the hallway to tell me it was himself who called the engineer because my lamp shade had a stripped out nut that caused the lamp shade to not be secure. The engineer found out about the cord and was terribly sorry and wanted to make it right. I told him I have tons of cords and there was no issue. I do not believe I will pursue this issue any further. New lamp works great and has a tight lamp shade. Kudos for a great attitude!

casofilia Posted February 22, 2017 #28 Share Posted February 22, 2017 Sorry but I had to smile when I saw the title to this thread. The doctor on board or even the nurse but an engineer!!
Robinsoncruiseso Posted February 22, 2017 #29 Share Posted February 22, 2017 Amazing how the simple truth and a sincere apology goes a long way. You have a great attitude which I am sure translates to a wonderful cruise.
pablo222 Posted February 22, 2017 #30 Share Posted February 22, 2017 The crazy part was they installed the lamp on my phone cord. They wanted you to 'escape completely'

SantaFeFan Posted February 22, 2017 #32 Share Posted February 22, 2017 Light is bolted from below. Power screw driver, they would never know. Unless they do what every good maintenance person would do - inspect their work AFTERWARDS to make sure it was done correctly. Clearly, that person never checked his work. pablo222 Posted February 23, 2017 #33 Share Posted February 23, 2017 Light is bolted from below. Power screw driver, they would never know. Huh? You would have to work from below to unbolt the current lamp. You would then have to work from above to remove the current lamp, and install the new lamp. You would then have to work from below to re-bolt the new lamp. It seems like very sloppy workmanship. One can only hope that the workmanship in safety / security / emergency areas is of higher quality.

Rare PescadoAmarillo Posted February 23, 2017 #35 Share Posted February 23, 2017 This ranks right up there with the 'wet varnish' signs we once saw on the Emerald Princess taped to...freshly varnished handrails.
