newmexicoNita Posted March 3, 2017 #229 Share Posted March 3, 2017 The examples that you listed are annoying but they aren't potentially fatal like 2nd hand smoke is. I still have trouble accepting the second hand smoke stuff: I think of all the years almost everyone smoked, we exposed our kids to second hand smoke, we smoked in our cars and homes and yet how many people really ever develop lung cancer? I know 3 people who have, only one was a smoker. I know you are probably thinking: what about heart trouble? Good question, again; most people who develop heart trouble usually have a history of it in the family or are much older. After a certain age, we are all going to get something; our bodies just wear out. this is not to put you or anyone else down; I don't like the smell of smoke either, but I don't buy the second hand smoke business. Just my opinion.

Hundreds are toxic and about 70 can cause cancer." - CDC "Secondhand smoke causes more than 7,300 lung cancer deaths among U.S. nonsmokers each year" - U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
Tatka Posted March 3, 2017 #233 Share Posted March 3, 2017 But they aren't smoking in passenger areas. They smoke in the same places passengers smoke. In passengers areas designated to smoking. And nobody is or will be saying that they need to wait till a port and then smoke like chimneys. Same should not be said about passengers who are smoking in proper places. Tatka Posted March 3, 2017 #235 Share Posted March 3, 2017 Yes. No. anyone who smokes on any ship should pay more in cleaning fee. Common in most hotels now to have this. Sent from my iPhone using Forums Even if he/she smokes outside? Why? Crew removes all garbage, removes dirty dishes and glasses. What is so different about cleaning ashtrays? Fee in hotels is to remove odor from the room (I haven't been to any hotel for smokers for a long long time), but if smokers smoke outside or in a special club, what should this fee be applied for? Moby0215 Posted March 3, 2017 #236 Share Posted March 3, 2017 But the casino is enclosed and in an areas easily avoided on the gem. Not so on the BA Sent from my iPhone using Forums 1) I didn't think this thread was specifically about the BA 2) I don't remember the Gem casino being enclosed. Maybe not quite as open as the BA. But certainly not enclosed. The point is if NCL thought they would make more money with a no smoking ship they would already be doing it. In Jan 2015 on deck 11 of the ba in my inside cabin that was very close to the interior crew cabins...that most pax do not even know exist...you know...the "white space" the crew was definitely smoking...and drinking...and partying....at 3am Yup it was crew as there wasn't a sound coming from pax cabins and I heard it through the wall where there was not another pax cabin Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Actually it could be about the BA because the ba represents the poor design that has caused the big uproar about smoke in recent years And the gem casino is so easily avoidable it's ridiculous ...plus it has walls!!! My dh is allergic and asthmatic and did not have one issue with smoke on the gem On the ba he would have had to jump thru hoops to avoid smoke...in the casino...le bistro...spiceh2o...parts of the waterfront....all the bar areas in 6/7/8...the smoking cube ...by the pool. Too many nice areas would have been off limits to him The problem is that the smoke from the ba casino infiltrates too many other areas that are supposed to be smoke free. The fact that one side of spice is smoking is also a disgrace. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Hypbmxgurl Posted March 3, 2017 #239 Share Posted March 3, 2017 While on freedom of the seas it was kinda bummer. While my oldest son was in the club they have for children we would walk around with our 1 year old at the time. Once he got tired we put him in the eurgo so we could check things out ourselves. I would have loved to check out the casino but we didn't want our son breathing the smoke in nor us. I would love a non smoking cruise if they inforced it. CruisingRavyn Posted March 3, 2017 #241 Share Posted March 3, 2017 I've never cruised NCL before but I have been looking at some in 2018. To answer the questions: Yes No I just typically avoid the smoking areas which isn't hard to do. I'm not sure if NCL is set up differently than others but most have designated areas. If I have to walk through the casino I just tough it out. I would likely go gamble in the casino more if there was a non smoking area that wasn't actually full of smoke from the half that allows smoking.
