Maybe it's my imagination ! We are carry on folks and I manage to wear a long sleeve dress shirt and kaki pants at "dressy night".....which meets the HAL dress code requirements..... Also, Her Majesty always looks great in her black dress......on "dressy nights". I don't think the amount of luggage hauled on board relates to what folks decide to wear onboard..... We are carry on folks but we do not own "beer ad" t-shirts. Enjoy the journey, no matter what you choose to wear onboard!

JeffElizabeth Posted June 27 #29 Share Posted June 27 Sometimes it pays to bring the bags on yourself. I saw some luggage wind up in the water on boarding day. Met up with the people later and they did get free laundry service from the cruise line. Forgot to ask them about their electronics and other contents. How large a suitcase will they allow through the Xray machine on boarding (Canada Place) if we carry it on instead of checking it with the porters??
ExpatBride Posted June 30 #32 Share Posted June 30 It depends. I've always traveled with the same roller bag and never had an issue until last year in Copenhagen. They insisted that it was too big to carry on, but I stood my ground and they eventually gave in. There was no way I was going back to check it and wait in the long queue again. It's not a huge bag by any means, but it's bigger than airlines will allow as cabin baggage.

We easily manage these bags by ourselves. Seems much easier to walk on the first day, and walk off the last day and not deal with porters, baggage checking / claim etc. Thanks. Sure you could. It is just a lot of walking with a suit case..

Yes, you can bring your own, but not someone else's luggage.
