My Time Dining and Reservations

We are two couples travelling on Rhapsody in October and have selected My Time Dining option. Is it possible to reserve dinner times for My Time Dining in advance of the cruise, or do we do that once we are on the ship? I've only cruised once on HAL and we reserved each day or the day before, but because of that could only get a very early or a very late dinner time. If we wanted a more standard dinner time (6-7:30) we had to just go and wait in line (which never took very long at all). Is that the same on RCI ships? Or specifically on Rhapsody? And if I can reserve in advance, when would I be able to do that? How soon before the cruise? We most likely will not do specialty restaurants. Thanks for any advice!

Yes, you can reserve ahead of time. I believe that MTD reservations open up when the rest of reservations open up, so probably 90-120 days before sailing.

Does that mean I now have early dining? My travel agent previously told me that early dining was closed as was the wait list. You should be able to see your dining assignment by looking at your booking on Royal's website.

Suggest you have your agent call and inquire. I book thru RCCL so I just call C&A if I have a question or an issue.

OK I have logged on to "My Cruises" on the RCCL site. Where will it say what type of dining I have?

Nevermind. Just saw at the bottom of the screen it shows we have My Time Dining. I guess i just need to call my TA to see why I can't make any changes.

I dont think it is to do with the slots been taken at all as it wont even let me request a time. Same thing as when requesting entertainment bookings and I have learned that you dont request them in advance on FOS.

Under Royal's FAQs there is a section about My Time Dining. You can make reservations by calling 800-590-6218, but if you booked through a TA they have to call to reserve. You can also email open seat at rccl dot com and reserve that way.
