CanWeGoYet? Posted March 8, 2017 #1 Share Posted March 8, 2017 Weather forecast (for ocho rios) I pulled up has a lot of rain & even thunderstorms forecast in the next week. Anyone have any experience with how the tour operators handle this sort of thing? It can't possibly be safe to be out on the water if lightning is expected. We have put a deposit down on a river tubing excursion (not through the cruise line) and emailed the person who handles the email communication for the excursion. Seemed to be downplaying even the possibility of rain, let alone thundershowers, yet that is what is in the forecast. I'm going to hope the forecast changes in the next week - if not we may just stay on board the ship.
Rare Lionesss Posted March 12, 2017 #2 Share Posted March 12, 2017 We did a combined zip line and tubing excursion. The tour guides divided us into two groups and we flipped excursions so half did one and then went to the other. Did the zip line first then the tubing. Zip line weather sunny hot, minimal breeze. Then we did the tubing......during which we had a mild down pour about 10 min. and you could hear thunder in the distance never saw flashes of light or lightning. The tour guides just kept us going on our way and the sun eventually came out. We felt safe. Enjoy, we did.
CanWeGoYet? Posted March 23, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted March 23, 2017 It turned out fine. There were clouds but no rain, and definitely no lightning! The guide said they predict rain every day in the forecast, which may be an exaggeration but it helps explain why the tour company did not seem too impressed by the forecast.
