yogimax Posted March 9, 2017 #1 Share Posted March 9, 2017 What's the latest on the usual 5-8:30 cocktail time on Empress. Is it only the three loaded drinks or is there more? Thanks!
sea shepherd Posted March 9, 2017 #2 Share Posted March 9, 2017 I am with you. I am on her Monday. And was wondering the same thing. I think it's just the 3 drinks on the sea pass. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

hannibal54 Posted March 9, 2017 #4 Share Posted March 9, 2017 There is no DL or CL on the Empress. When I was on her in Oct. they offered us a galley tour and a top tier lunch with wine.
FLSteve11 Posted March 9, 2017 #5 Share Posted March 9, 2017 There is no DL or CL on the Empress. When I was on her in Oct. they offered us a galley tour and a top tier lunch with wine. I got that in October as well. In January, when sailing her again, we didn't get the galley tour or lunch. Not sure if they did away with that, or if it was because it was only a 4-day instead of a 5-day (which I had in October). They do a sail away celebration for Diamonds and up when leaving embarkation day. In October, it was drinks and some catered food (wings, mini sandwiches, etc), in January, just drinks. Again, not sure if the length was the difference, or they just cut down on what they were doing
yogimax Posted March 10, 2017 Author #6 Share Posted March 10, 2017 Seems to me they could easily open a section of the Viking Crown Lounge and offer wine, beer and soft drinks. We are not bar people and enjoy the socialization in the lounge each night. This is a disappointment indeed!
Biker19 Posted March 10, 2017 #7 Share Posted March 10, 2017 You could go to the VCL, socialize and get drinks on your card.

3dogmom Posted March 10, 2017 #9 Share Posted March 10, 2017 The Empress will be my first sailing as a D+. I really wanted to shove the CL into my almost-not-quite-D+ friends!;p
Rocket3D Posted March 10, 2017 #10 Share Posted March 10, 2017 (edited) Hi, DW and I just off Empress today. They opened half of the Viking Crown Lounge every night for D and up...no swiping cards from 5-8:30. Very nice since it was heavily spring breakers....so us old pharts had a place to get away from it. If you left during those hours and ordered at a bar, they did begin swiping your card for 3 more free drinks. I hope they continue this for D and up on your cruise. There was a C&A event also in the Crown Lounge one evening. Captain and officers very cordial to all. I must say after several Empress cruises that the crew and officers are the friendliest, and since it is a small ship you see them time and again. For D+ and up they had a special lunch with officers in the upper level of the dining room. You will get invitations in your cabin. Florida Lobster the last evening, even in the Windjammer. We enjoy the small ship experience...just adjust to it. No skating shows, but the singers and dancers were very good as on all Royal ships. Hope this helps...it is a small ship with a big heart. Enjoy. >>>>>>>>>>> Hey Steve....hope all is well...Robinn finally retired so hope to meet your family on a cruise. edit...I should add that it was wine, champagne, and mixed drinks in the lounge from 5-8:30. No food though. In the Schooner Bar ask for Anthony...waiter in Schooner Bar...tell him Robert and Shelah (Robinn) said Hi...he will take good care of you. One more thing...after muster there is a sailaway drinks event on Bolleros aft deck, from about 4 to just after 5....D and up. Right, that was billed as the welcome back event. This VCL gathering sounds like an appeasement for the D and up crowd that complains about the lack of a D lounge. Rocket3D Posted March 10, 2017 #13 Share Posted March 10, 2017 Right, that was billed as the welcome back event. This VCL gathering sounds like an appeasement for the D and up crowd that complains about the lack of a D lounge. Possibly. We were at the Pool Bar for a CC meetup...spring breakers were 5 deep surrounding the bar. Most all had drink packages. Impossible to get served. We went to Bolleros for the welcome back event. Hotel director spoke to everyone individually, cordially, and mentioned he was opening Crown Lounge every night for D and up from 5-8:30. Specifically mentioned the unusual spring break crowd and wanted to mitigate the situation....hope they keep it going, we are back on Empress next month again. No music or even staff at the “sail away”, just an empty deck and a sign saying diamond and up. Second “event” was 10-15 mins of thanks for sailing, we’re planning new ships, continue sailing with us! People were walking out, very disappointed. And the bartenders were the worst, they were rude and short! I only found one I liked on the whole ship!! Your good ones must have left 😢. Disappointed...
