Embassy Suites Miami Airport - short review

Stayed here one night pre-cruise (11/5). The hotel was clean but undergoing renovations. Staff was friendly. There is a Bennigans less than 5 minutes away by foot - DH and DFIL walked there to try and catch a football game  We had pizza & subs delivered for dinner - got the menu from the front desk (sorry cant remember the name BUT it wasnt one of the places they recommend in the book in your room) There is a restaurant but we were not in the mood for "hotel food". Pool was small but clean - kids used it.

$9/pp shuttle to the port of miami was a NIGHTMARE! THe lobby was overflowing with people and luggage waiting for their assigned time. We finally gave up waiting and grabbed 2 cabs (1 car 1 van) for less money and off to the port we went.

OK for 1 night although I'd probably book elsewere next time. :)

The prepaid shuttle-- did you have to pay that ahead of time with your reservation?

I will be taking a taxi then.

The night before you had to put down a deposit. After arguing with the concierge we did get it back.

Take a taxi! No hassles!

I'm happy they're finally renovating that place, it needed it! I couldn't agree more with Bequia regarding the shuttles. They're rarely ever worth the hassle, and in cases where there's a charge taxis are frequently similarly priced or even cheaper, and taxis a whole lot quicker, easier and more convenient!

I much prefer the hotels in the Blue Lagoon area though, on the south side of MIA - Nicer hotels in a nicer neighborhood...
