donsuej Posted March 29, 2017 #78 Share Posted March 29, 2017 Loving your pictures! How has the service been - bar service, dining room? I hear people in cruise groups complaining about it. Full ship this week? Enjoy!
Gimmiethebeach Posted March 29, 2017 Author #79 Share Posted March 29, 2017 Loving your pictures! How has the service been - bar service, dining room? I hear people in cruise groups complaining about it. Full ship this week? Enjoy! Service has been hit or miss. We have found a great guy who works at the pool during the day and the casino at night and we love him. But a couple of the guys behind the bar at the pool are just sort of grumpy all the time. Service everywhere we have eaten has been good. Our waiter at Wasabi last night was great. We were on the Escape last year at this time and this ship feels much more "policed" than the Escape. Security very visible, no drinks in the pools or hot tubs, no kids allowed in the adult (main) pool ever, stuff like that. It's not really anything worth mentioning but it is a different feel. Yes, the ship is at full capacity. When we checked in there was a sign up saying no cabin changes because everything was full. Gimmiethebeach Posted March 29, 2017 Author #81 Share Posted March 29, 2017 Well Harvest Caye was a bit of a bust. We got off the ship at 10:15 and could not find one single open chair anywhere around the pool. And we looked. The pool was pretty much standing room only. There were beach chairs that were open but the beach had tons of seaweed and the purple flag so nobody wanted to get in the water. We finally went upstairs at The Landshark to sit and get a drink. Then all of the sudden... To quote Eddie Murphy in Beverly Hills Cop, somebody made a mistake in the pool. At least that's our guess because they cleared that place out and it was still closed when we finally called it quits and came back to the ship. They were also closing sections of the beach when we left. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Rare tripleboom Posted March 29, 2017 #82 Share Posted March 29, 2017 Well that's a substantial "WHOOPS!" Maybe the culprit was the same guy lounging in the slide earlier in the week. :D
Gimmiethebeach Posted March 29, 2017 Author #83 Share Posted March 29, 2017 It's really pretty and well done, but a full ship fills the place up quickly. We did a little shopping and are now back on the ship at the pool. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
BeckyC77 Posted March 29, 2017 #84 Share Posted March 29, 2017 Re: Harvest Caye. This is good to know. We have a pool cabana booked and I keep going back and forth whether I should cancel it. Your report convinced me to keep it :)
zqvol Posted March 29, 2017 #85 Share Posted March 29, 2017 . . . But a couple of the guys behind the bar at the pool are just sort of grumpy all the time. . . . I noticed that on the March 5 sailing too. Almost like they did not want to be there. Security very visible, no drinks in the pools or hot tubs, no kids allowed in the adult (main) pool ever, stuff like that. Same way March 5th. I enjoyed the extra controls. . . .When we checked in there was a sign up saying no cabin changes because everything was full. Every mass market cruise that I have been on has had that sign posted. They just don't want to deal with it on the ship. Sent from my iPhone using Forums Some comment above

Gimmiethebeach Posted March 30, 2017 Author #92 Share Posted March 30, 2017 So if you are interested in doing the Escape Room, book it as soon as you get on the ship. You can only book it at the box office, it's offered 3 times during the cruise, it's free and only 16 people can do it at a time. aggiesmom Posted March 30, 2017 #97 Share Posted March 30, 2017 Love reading your experiences this week. We will be boarding on Sunday. I have a question on currency at the ports. Did you find that U.S. currency was acceptable with cab drivers and retailers?

Gimmiethebeach Posted March 30, 2017 Author #99 Share Posted March 30, 2017 We ate at the Shanghai noodle bar last night. It was absolutely yummy! After that we watched Howl At The Moon for a couple of hours and ended the night in the casino. Finally won a little money! Gimmiethebeach Posted March 30, 2017 Author #100 Share Posted March 30, 2017 Maya Chan today. I loved this place and would recommend it to everyone. The staff is super friendly and food was amazing. The sea grass has been bad everywhere so that was a bummer, but it was a great day anyway. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
