CPLPhilTN Posted April 9, 2017 #1 Share Posted April 9, 2017 First time cruiser. Will I be able to bring a small 10" electric fan? We always use one to sleep at night. Most for the sound. Sent from my LGLS992 using Forums mobile app
lifes-a-beach Posted April 9, 2017 #2 Share Posted April 9, 2017 We take two of the smaller 5 inch fans and put one on each nightstand. Never had a problem.
cb at sea Posted April 9, 2017 #3 Share Posted April 9, 2017 You can bring a fan. I use a 5 in desk fan....I bring an extension cord, as I need the AIRFLOW....hot flashes, you know. I need to have the fan blowing on me in bed. Hubby freezes, but I will melt without it!
CPLPhilTN Posted April 9, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted April 9, 2017 Thanks guys. I'm trying to cover all my bases. My wife can not sleep without a steady sound of some sort... Very light sleeper! You will have the best luck getting it by security if it's battery operated.
ksmith61 Posted April 9, 2017 #7 Share Posted April 9, 2017 I had fan confiscated in checked baggage. They claimed it was a fire hazard and said I'd have to have a doctor's note to have one. They once confiscated another family member's fan as well. After much arguing with guest services, they issued another fan with frayed wires. Bogus fire hazard excuse? Anyone taken one on Oasis lately?
SportsFanatic Posted April 9, 2017 #8 Share Posted April 9, 2017 I have had mine taken when cruising out of Miami. Other times, no issue Sent from my iPad using Forums
tnt10 Posted April 9, 2017 #9 Share Posted April 9, 2017 Appears to be inconsistent at best. Last year took a CPAP machine with all the paperwork, etc, in it's own carry-on case. Was never asked to open it nor had any questions asked by TSA for flights or by port staff when carrying onto ship. YMMV tnt10

ccarroll57 Posted April 9, 2017 #12 Share Posted April 9, 2017 I am glad I read this as I was going to buy an electric fan for our cruise next week. I'm ordering USB from Amazon now.
Brigbound Posted April 9, 2017 #13 Share Posted April 9, 2017 We use a whitenoise app on the phone. Since it's the noise you want, it might save space in your luggage. [emoji3]
cocod08 Posted April 9, 2017 #14 Share Posted April 9, 2017 I have a small fan I have brought in 5 cruises so far no problems. Cruised both RCCL and NCL. I need the sound and the air flow to sleep [emoji42] I pack it in my checked bag and I fly to port without an issue from TSA. And no issue so far with port Everglades, Liberty, Baltimore, New Orleans and Miami for NCL. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
