Upsell from big box TA?!

That is unusual in my experience (same offer over again). We have gotten several offers on the cruise, but each time it was lower than the previous one. We book directly with HAL.

I'm glad to hear it's unusual. This happened when we booked directly with HAL. Every time an email came I would get excited only to see it was the same offer lol.

My brother recently (a month ago) was in a Signature suite and beginning 4 weeks out he got an upsell offer for $499 pp, at three weeks it came out again but at $399. Then at two weeks it came out at $299 and he took it.

I keep hearing these stories on CC. We have gotten lots of offers but never anything like that. Honestly we have done better booking guarantees in our case.

We have only ever had one upsell offer that was even worth acknowledging. And it was not really an upsell.

It was a move over offer from Princess that we grabbed in a heartbeat. Our on line discount TA arranged it. She had other offers that she said were not worth passing on to us. Since almost all of our cruises are booked inside the final payment window we do not expect to receive any reasonable upgrade offers.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, we have been offered upsells on virtually every cruise on HAL, even some of the times we booked a Neptune we were offered an upsell to the Penthouse.

I think part of the reason for us is that we tend to travel during the "low" season, so HAL has difficulty in selling out the cruise, even given the lower fares. Plus, I think it depends on the category you book, plus the configuration of the ship (for example it is easier to get an upsell from a Signature to a Neptune on a Vista class ship than from a Vista to a Neptune on an R class ship, due to the number of Neptunes on each).

Hope you have better luck in the future, as these upsells are generally very good deals.
