Ok, it's been a long time for me. How is the casino handled on the Eurodam? If I want to place slots do I use my key card or do I need to get a different card? I think that's how it was the last time I sailed. What about tables? Is there craps and roulette? I wasn't sure if they provide chips, if it's on a card, can you used money from your on board account or do I need to bring cash?

You can use either cash or your cruise card to charge to your shipboard account in the slot machines. You set up an "account" with your card in a slot machine and then you are good to go with all the slots. You can purchase chips at the casino cage with either cash or charge your card. You can leave your slot winnings (hopefully) on the card for future use or you can cash it out.

If you play on any other carnival owned ship make sure to check with the ocean players club about casino cash. This is our first time on Holland but we have cruised on Carnival several times. So I emailed and my DH will have 50.00 cash waiting on him at the cage. It never hurts to check. The website has a form to fill out. oceanplayersclubdotcom. Not sure if I could put the actual web site.

But... no info about signing up in advance. Is that automatic just by using the keycard? Is all slot play paid for via keycard or do machines take cash/tickets?

It's funny, I've always found the machines tight, but my cousin and I had outstanding luck on the Oosterdam in February. She hit for two $1000 jackpots and I hit for $350 and $400.....first time ever I've come off the ship with a zero balance...our winnings paid off both our accounts! And my cousin won the free cruise bingo......pretty outstanding cruise all round! And I don't ever expect any of that to happen again! :)

If you get chips at the table with your card they will charge you a fee, 3%, I believe, but not if you charge to the card at a slot machine. So if you need cash for the tables you can charge to your card at a slot machine and then go to cashier to cash out out and bring that cash to the tables.

There is one caveat at the table regarding the 3% fee. If you want to charge, for example, $100 on your card then they will charge you the 3% fee. BUT - if you have a cash balance on your card and want to take the $100 from the cash sitting as a balance then they don't charge you the fee. It just saves you time from going to the cage to cash out $100 from your own cash.

I believe they just use your mariner number or for carnival your VIP number. The site has a form to click on and fill out. You also can get win/lose statements. So if you play with your card in the machine then its is counted.

Good to know, I'm not much of a slots player, much more likely to go to the tables. With all this in mind is it just worth it to bring some cash on board for the casino to avoid fees?

Me too. Just blackjack. Would chew ground glass before I'd play a slot machine -- particularly on a cruise ship. Having said that, here's what I do about cash: I do a wire transfer of cash from my bank to OPC. OPC handles the transfer to the ship. Then when you want to play, you just go up to the cage and withdraw whatever you want to use for the session.

But I have an important warning about contacting OPC through their "Get in Contact" button on their website: Now I've never seen this before on ANY other site but when you send them a message by clicking the "Get in Contact" button, a copy will also be sent to someone I presume is their webmaster at the firm that designed their website (bayshoresolutions.com). Therefore, I'll contact them like that if I have to ask a simple question or something but I'd NEVER transmit any financial information to them that way or use one of their online forms. And I'm not tellin' tales out of school because I've already made a formal complaint about this to Michael Bayona, one of their head honchos. Just sayin'.
