triumph muster drill

Recommended Posts

Yes,, Outside at your assigned station. No you don't meet anywhere before you go outside. If you have an issue with standing then you talk to the special needs dept and they will assign you a different area to do the drill if needed.

Remember in a real emergency it would be best if you could get to your assigned station.

You meet inside next to your muster station, then you are led outside and lined up next to your lifeboats/life rafts.

One muster station meets up in the port side photo gallery. It is rather cramped with all of those people waiting to go outside.

That's not how it was for me on Triumph last September. We met outside. Freedom was the same in Feb.

I was on the Triumph 2/9/17. That is what happened to my muster station. We waited until a crew member opened the door. The person responsible for scanning our cards skipped over me and 3 - 5 other people at least three times.

The crew on my sailing must have been running behind. That or they were new. We were told not to go through the door until the crew member said we could.

I think that only meeting in a lounge is a disservice to the passengers and crew. In the event of a real emergency, passengers and crew wouldn't have any practice going to and lining up at their lifeboats. As much as I would like to not have to go outside, I prefer the way the Fantasy-class ships run their muster drills. I feel I am better prepared if I have actually been to my lifeboat.

The Dream and Vista are the only classes that don't have the drills outside by the lifeboats.

In DEC 2016 on Imagination, for muster A, they started us in a theater and they made us wait in there for about 20-30 minutes and then the herding to the lifeboats happened. I have no idea why we wouldn't just meet at the lifeboats but they didn't and it seemed very disorganized and took 45 minutes.

I was in muster station A on the Inspiration in August 2016. They took their sweet time then too. While I was waiting for them to start, I was about to send a text to my mother. The guy on the stage told me to put my phone away. I was less than a minute from putting it away, even though they didn't seem like they would be starting the demonstration soon. I told him I was about to put it away, but his response was very rude. It was bordering on a power trip. I felt attacked, so I got up out of my front row seat(I wanted to put my feet up) and went to the back of the theater to stand by the stairs.

It's supposed to be done that way. Each group meets up at a central location, sits through the life jacket demonstration, and then goes to their lifeboats. There are one or two muster stations that meet up on the Lido deck, so they don't have to go very far to get to their lifeboats.

I hate muster station B on Fantasy-class ships. The casino cigarette smoke smell permeates throught the Promenade seating area. Muster station B is also the last group to go to their lifeboats. They are the first ones to leave their lifeboats because they are right by the doors.

Just got off the Triumph a week ago and we went straight outside to muster station. The only people that met inside were those that had problems w outside muster stations. They met in the Oxford lounge.

Last July on Triumph we met in one of the lounges then were led outside on deck where we stood for 48 minutes (I timed it) in the sun with a heat index of 115.(had the Weather Channel up on my phone) Several elderly people had to be taken inside due to the extreme heat. Most of that time was spend so the crew could count, count and count again to make sure everyone was there. It seems like they could have you scan your s and s card or something to speed this up. On the Dream last December we just met in a lounge and never went outside.
