this may be bad but we still havent booked airfare from anchorage back to florida after our cruise. we are taking a cruise june 16-23 northbound. then spending another 6 days or so in alaska by ourselves. dropping off rental car and flying out. cant find a decent priced flight without connecting 2 or more times. any help is greatly appreciated. or even flying somewhere staying overnight and flying to florida in morning.

We are doing SB in June with 8 days on land first. We're flying from Orlando and we found that RT to Seattle with a one way flight to ANC was much cheaper with WAY better flight times. Everything we are doing is non-stop and our flight from ANC to SEA was $105 (JetBlue). So we will spend time in Seattle at the beginning and the end of our trip which is someplace we've always wanted to explore.

So maybe try getting back to SEA and then flights home from there?

At this late date, you aren't going to find airfares dropping from Alaska in late June/early July. (We booked in January for a late May flight from Anchorage).

I wouldn't put this off any longer!

Yep...it is not good. "Decent" (always a wonderfully vague and subjective term) price fares were sold months ago. Buy what you can now, no real reason to delay. Be happy if you get to sit together. Some research on the Cruise Air board is more appropriate than here. For example, you would learn about ita.matrix, which is a great look at most all available flights and options, except for a couple of players (like Southwest) who don't cooperate.

Tough to help you...need to know where in Florida you are flying to/from.

It would be easier to read your posts if you use capital letters where appropriate.

On another thread the OP said they're flying out of Miami.

It's not too bad. I can see United out of ANC on the evening of July 1 for $271 per person to Miami via Houston. Like most flights to the lower 48 (aside from Seattle/Portland) it's a red-eye that arrives in Miami before lunchtime. (The red-eyes are due to the time difference to the Midwest and east coast - if you leave Alaska at mid-day, the transfers needed to get to your destination airport put you there very late at night, not a good thing for an airline that wants its planes to be flying rather than sitting around.)

The previous day (June 30) the same flights are over $100 more, but it might be worth it if it saves an expensive hotel night in Anchorage.

Use ITA to find the best flights.

At this late a date, you better get what you can as prices generally only go up 2 months out from departure and you are well under that timeframe. The longer you wait, the closer you get to paying full fare - you definitely won't see it going back down........

Depending on schedule in Alaska post cruise you might still have a chance to connect through Seattle if you can do so on a Wednesday or Thursday when there is no cruise ship in town (see schedule) . Airfares in Seattle tend to be higher on cruise ship days. Or, try a flight from Alaska to somewhere like Minneapolis or Chicago and connect from there.
